Hermione lay in her four poster bed on her side with the curtians drawn all around. Tears fell into her hands as she quitely sobbed into them. She clenched her teeth as she felt another sob rack through her body. She didn't know why she was crying so hard. She remembered standing in Malfoy's arms, looking up into his beautiful grey eyes as he stared into hers. She'd felt a warm feeling go up her arms from where he held them. Then she'd saw him lean in closer and... that's when she'd lost it. She'd pulled out of his arms and ran away to her dormitory, where she was now.

She'd wanted to kiss him so bad. She really did. But suddenly when he was milimetres away from from kissing her, she'd come back to reality and realised that it was Draco Malfoy. The boy who had bullyed her for 5 years straight, and she had been about to kiss him.

But he's different this year! Hermione argued with herself. Then she remembered the incident on the train and in the hallways, where he had made fun of her.

Hermione pulled the blankets off of her body and climbed out of her bed. She walked her way in the dark to the washroom that was attacthed to her 6th year girls dormitory. Once she was inside she took her wand out and turned all the lamps on that hung from the walls. The light illuminated a yellow glow to the bathroom.

Hermione stood in front of the sink and turned the cold water on, She splashed it on her face and dried off. She looked up in the mirror and frowned.

She was a mess. Her hair was all over the place. It was way worse then usual. Her eyes were red around the rim and her cheeks were flushed.

Hermione sighed. She had been lucky no one had been in the common room when she had come flying in looking like this. she supposed Harry and ron where down there now, doing homework. Or pretending too. But she didn't want to see Ron anway. All she thougt about was him kissing Lavender and that made her think of Malfoy. A small smile escaped and placed itself on her face when she thought about him and his laugh.

She looked back up in the mirror and was surprised to see herself smiling and thoughts of Malfoy and his laugh.

Hermione dried her face and took one more glance in the mirror before heading down into the common room where she inevitably saw Harry and Ron.

They both glanced up from their game of exploding snap when they saw her enter the room. Ron's ears turned red.

" Oh Hey Hermione." Harry said, glancing up from his cards. " What's the matter? You look like you've been crying" He said and frowned.

Ron glanced up at Hermione as soon as Harry said that.

" It's nothing, Harry don't worry about it." She said.

Harry frowned. " Okay, but you know you can always talk to me, right?" He asked.

Hermione gave him a small smile. She knew crying girls terrified Harry, so the gesture was kind to her. " I know Harry." She said.

He returned her smile and went back to his game.

" You can talk to me too, you know." Ron said.

Hermione glanced at him but didn't give him a smile. " I don't know why I would want to" She sniffed and got up from her seat.

" I'm going to bed. Goodnight" and with that she turned out of the room and headed up the staircase that led to the 6th year girls dormitorys.

*************************************************

Malfoy was pacing the 6th year boys Slytherin dormitorys. It was all vacant except for him. The others 6th year boys were out in the comon room still.

He ran a hand through his hair and sighed in frustration. He went over and sat at the edge of the cold window, staring out at the moon.

If only he hand't fallen for the Gryffindor bookworm he wouldn't be here right now, furious at himself for moving to fast. He'd be outside possibly with Blaise tormenting first years or... or working on the cabinet. The thought of the cabinet brought fear and dread in him. He was no closer to fixing it then he had been on day one. He didn't know what to do anymore. If he fixed it, Dumbldore would die, and possibly other students in the school. Possibly even the bookworm herself.

Icy cold fear ran through his veins when he thought about it. It would be all his fault, to. He wasn't going to lose his bookworm.

He would be a slave to the dark lord for his whole life.... he didn't want to do that.

Visions of the Gryffindor girl swam into view, and Malfoy found himself day dreaming about their times at the lake, when things had been a bit less complicated.

Now she probably hated him. Well he hated himself now too.

Malfoy felt an unfamiliar feeling creep up on him. Embarrassment. He hadn't had much experience with the feeling, but he knew what it was.

Granger had basically rejected him. She'd even run away crying. Malfoy felt guilt wash over him. He had made her cry. Why had she cried? Was she still crying now?

Malfoy groaned and ran a hand down his face. He wanted to talk to her, but he would be too embarrassed. She probably didn't want to talk to him anyway.

He decided to start some homework, to try and get her of his mind.

He reached down for his schoolk bag when he remembered that he had completed all his homework except for his charms essay, which Hermione had offered to help him with. But she probably wouldn't want to help him now. Not that he even had the courage to ask her now..

He would have to talk to her eventually. He still had rounds with her to do.

He bent down and opened the drawew on his bed table. He withdrew his schedule and looked at it. he felt a jolt go through his stomach when he saw that he had rounds with her the day after there last round.

He would have to talk to he very soon. They would have to communicate through rounds somehow.

Malfoy sighed again. It was becoming a habit to sigh at everything that frustrated him. He was a Malfoy. As pathetic as an excuse it was, he wouldn't allow himself to be embarrassed. Even though being a Malfoy ment he couldn't talk to muggleborns...

He would talk to her tomorrow. She had said she would help him with the charms essay, right? He would just act like nothing had happened and hoped she would too.

Although deep inside, Malfoy was hoping she had changed her mind about running away.
