~8~

Kim Taehyung narrowed his eyes as he watched the Government soldiers walking quietly through the woods. If the Resistance hadn't been watching them already, most people wouldn't have even known they were there. But they had been watching. They'd received word from an inside informant that they were sending a group of Alpha troops that way, but things got even better when they found out their destination. Said destination was a breeding camp for omegas, which was what they were going to raid after they took down these Alpha scums.

The leader of their raid, Wonho, signalled to move forward silently, to which the group responded. There were fifteen of them, mostly Omegas and Betas, but Wonho and another, Chan, were Alphas. They believed in equality for all, which they were willing to fight for. Most of the Omegas in the group had had some pretty easy backgrounds, but all knew someone who had fallen victim to an Alpha.

As they closed in around the soldiers, who were just opening the door, Wonho raised his rifle and held up his hand for everyone to halt. For a minute, everything was silent. Then the Alpha's hand went down and fingers were pulling the triggers, all of them excellent shots. Taehyung celebrated internally when his first bullet had taken down the biggest Alpha.

Once they had taken all the soldiers out, they descended into Hell. Tae and everyone else stayed alert, guns raised in case someone came out of the metal doors at the end of the concrete hallway. Wonho went first, since he knew the codes to get into the doors. Tae could hear screaming on the other side, and tried to prepare for what might be on the other side.

Yet nothing could prepare them for the bloodbath inside. Dozens of Omegas in cages, all of them reeking of pain and fear. The screaming was coming from the back room, where Tae could tell that they were in the process of giving birth. The Betas, who seemed to be in charge, stopped what they were doing. They all wore white suits that turned red as the Resistance took them down. Tae and another Omega went to either side of the room, using codes to open the cages. As they helped each one file out of the room, Tae came to the last cage where an Omega was resting who hadn't woken up. Tae feared the worst, immediately checking for a pulse. There was none. Swearing, Tae stood and shook his head at Wonho, who was waiting for Tae's response.

They next came to the birthing room, where three omegas stood in fear around a still Omega. One of them was holding a baby, covered in blood, staring with tears in his eyes as he gazed down at the likely dead Omega.

As Tae walked towards him, the Omega whipped his head to stare at him with wide, fearful eyes. He immediately cradled the baby closer, backing away. Fear leaked from him and Tae stopped advancing, holding up his hands.

"Hey. I'm not gonna hurt you. It's okay, I just want to make sure that you're okay, okay?"

The Omega just stared at him like he was speaking another language. In his eyes spoke of a violence that Tae probably could never understand. Crouching down but still keeping his hands up, he stayed in that position as the Omega analyzed him.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, the Omega creeped forward, sniffing the air cautiously. Tae now understood why the Omega had not answered him. He'd reverted to his wolf instincts, his fight or flight mode in high gear.

Tae held his hand out, an offering, and the Omega flinched but didn't run.

"Hi. I'm Taehyung, but most call me Tae. Can you tell me what your name is?" Tae asked as he slowly rose from his position.

The Omega opened his mouth as if to say something, but closed it as tears filled his eyes. The baby, who had at some point stopped screaming, now began to move, sensing the distress in the Omega.

"Hey, it's okay, you don't have to tell me," he started to say, but the Omega shook his head.

"J-Jimin," he said with a sob. Tae nodded, liking that they were finally getting somewhere.

"Hello, Jimin. It's nice to meet you. May I take the baby, or do you wanna hold on to him?" Tae asked softly. Jimin instinctively held on tighter to the baby, shaking his head.

"Alright, alright, it's okay. You can keep holding the baby. Why don't we wrap it up in a nice warm blanket and get you two out of here, okay? Does that sound good, Jimin?"

The Omega nodded, then headed over to a table where there were a few blankets. He swaddled the baby before shedding his bloody coat and dropping it on the floor. Then he turned to Tae.

"She's gonna need milk," he said softly.

"Agreed," Tae said, looking around the room. "Is there any extra stored here?" Jimin nodded towards a refrigerator in the corner. "They have about ten extra bottles."

Tae moved quickly, thankful he'd brought a bag, and stuffed the ten bottles into it before turning to Jimin. "Is there anything else you need? Like clothes or something?" Tae eyed the Omega's outfit. It was getting colder at night, especially in the forest, and he didn't want the small Omega to freeze to death. Yet Jimin shook his head. "I don't have anything else," he muttered, trailing off as sadness tinged his voice.

"It's okay, Jimin. I've got an extra jacket," Tae said, wondering just how long this Omega had been in this breeding compound. He wanted to ask, but he knew this Omega had been through a lot and they needed to start heading back to Base.

Tae motioned for the Omega to follow and they quickly followed after the rest of the Resistance group, exiting the nightmare as fast as they could. They had a long walk back to Base, however, it seemed that one of the team members had commandeered a Government vehicle. Two days. It would still take two days to get to the base. Grabbing his bag from where he'd stashed it, he grabbed the extra coat and handed it to a grateful Jimin. The Omega was simply focused on the baby, and Tae understood why. It was a light and relief from all the darkness and death in the world. He just hoped that they would survive, to which Tae didn't know if he meant Jimin or the baby.
