note: the ball will be in this chapter, and it's going to be written slightly differently from the rest of the story. i'm not going to be adding separators for perspective changes, because everyone will be at the same place at the same time. just for future reference, that's how i'll always write events like this.

warning, 3 bxb scenes, the first two with important plot, i'll label the plot's starting and ending points. 1 gxg scene, no important plot.

sorry for a long ass chapter lmao

A six-year-old Jimmy Miller kicked the back of his father's seat in the car, complaining profusely, constantly asking, "Where are we goinggggg????"

"We're going to my friend's house, okay? Stop kicking the seat," Jimmy's father, Liam, scolded.

"But Daddy, I'm boredddddd, how much longer?" Jimmy asked, starting to cry.

"Oh, don't cry, baby, we're almost there," Kim said with a gentle smile, and it made Jimmy stop crying.

"We're here," Liam said as he passed the gate and parked in the parking area.

"Big house," Jimmy said with wide eyes.

"Our house is the same size, baby, this one just looks bigger because it's not yours," Kim explained as she took Jimmy out of his carseat and poked him in the nose.

"Mommy, don't do that!" Jimmy whined as his mother carried him inside.

"Jimmy, this is Mr. Santiago Rodriguez. Say hi," Liam said, softly pushing the timid Jimmy towards him.

"H-hi," Jimmy said quietly, avoiding eye contact.

"Oh, hello, Jimmy. Your father has told me a lot about you," Santiago said with a warm smile, leaning down to give Jimmy a handshake, and Jimmy shook hands with him awkwardly. "I have to talk to your dad about something important, but you can play with my son. He's a kid too. His name is Cameron but you can call him Cam."

"I know Cam. In my class," Jimmy said quietly.

"Oh, well that's good! I'll tell a maid to go get him, and you guys can play in the family room," Santiago said, beckoning at a nearby maid and telling her to take Jimmy to the family room. Jimmy waved goodbye to his mom and dad and waited in the family room.

After a few minutes of waiting, the family room doors opened and Jimmy saw a familiar boy walk in with a maid. She walked out and closed the door behind her.

"Hi," Cam said, sitting on the couch next to Jimmy.

"Hi," Jimmy replied timidly, looking only at his hands that were placed firmly in his lap.

"We're in the same class," Cam pointed out.

"Yeah, teacher is mean," Jimmy chuckled softly.

"Yeah, teacher is very mean," Cam replied. "What do you want to play?" he asked.

"Do you have Legos?" Jimmy asked, suddenly perking up.

"Lots, in my room," Cam said, standing up. "Let's go!" he said excitedly, opening the doors and leaving the family room. Jimmy followed reluctantly.

Once they arrived in Cam's room, Jimmy stared at everything in awe.

"Awesome room," Jimmy said, continuing to look around.

"Thanks," Cam giggled.

"You like football?" Jimmy asked upon seeing all of the football memorabilia on his walls.
