"Loki! Oh, my dearest Brother! Where on earth were you yesterday?" My infuriatingly loud friend bounded over to me like an excited puppy expecting a treat or toy, shouting in my face as if we didn't live in the same house and had seen each other yesterday. I shook my head while rolling my eyes, although I could not hide the amused smile that crept onto my lips.

"I was sick." I replied, fixing my brother with a glare, warning her not to do something stupid like touch me. Of course, that never worked, and I was quickly given a hug so tight it would betray her supernatural heritage to anyone who was not as physically durable as a demi-god warlock werewolf. What a mouthful. "Also, we live in the same house, Thor. I don't know where your head was if you didn't see me yesterday." I laughed as I shoved her off my playfully, elbowing her in the arm gently. We began walking towards where I could see two of my packmates, as usual, all enjoying their time between classes on their phones. The others had different classes right now, so I would not be seeing them until lunch. Not that I could blame them, nothing wrong with having a good time together without interacting.

"Loki!" I was met with another cry of joy – at least, I hope that was joy – as I came into the field of vision that was not blocked by a glowing screen. I smiled at them and rolled my eyes again, before dropping my bag on the floor against the wooden box two of them were sitting on.

"Sunny. Jalex." I said in way of greeting, nodding in their directions. Jalex looked up once, nodded and smiled, before immediately directing her attention back to her phone, most likely to another fanfiction she had spent all night reading already. How did I know? Because when she stayed at the house in the woods everyone could hear her squeal in joy over her stories, well into the early hours of the morning. I looked at Sunny, who, unlike Jalex, was not on a phone. No, it was her iPad, and the app was a manga-reading one. Before I could see which manga, our ever-shy mortal quickly clicked the screen shut and looked up to greet me with a smile.

"Hi Loki!" She chirruped. Sometimes I had to stop and wonder how stupid the teenagers in this school thought we were, running around calling each other these 'ridiculous and stupid baby make-believe' nicknames. If only they knew, it really didn't get better than our 'ridiculous and stupid' nicknames, unless they wanted to ridicule my last name, Draken, as well. But what were the opinions of tweens or something when you've lived through so much already? Quite a bit, apparently, as I sometimes caught myself getting annoyed at them. The school itself was international, why was everyone so mean to someone with a 'fictional' character's name? Surely, they have seen weirder. Perhaps while looking in the mirror, but who was I to judge.

I was brought out of my trailing trail of thoughts by Sunny's second greeting, this time followed by a tap on my leg. I smiled back at her, sitting myself down on the edge of the large wooden box the two girls were occupying, next to Sunny's feet. "So, what's up you guys? What have you been up to while I was milking the common cold except, I wasn't sick at all?"

Sunny looked away then, while Jalex continued to ignore me in favour of her new favourite pairing. Thor, who had seated herself beside Jalex's legs, gave me a nervous look, as if what they were about to tell me was going to upset me in some way.

"Ok, you guys are acting weirder than usual, what is going on?"

Jalex seemed to take offense at that, and finally looked up from her phone. "Right, so you wanna know what you missed, maybe you shouldn't be missing days then huh?" she asked, sarcasm evident in her voice.

"Ok excuse me, but even immortal beings get bored of being in high school all the time. In case you haven't noticed, being amongst teenagers as a thousand-year-old being is like being a granny in the kiddy ball pit." I glanced over at Thor at this, after all, she should understand, being older than myself. She shrugged and stared back at me. Ok, no support there, thank you brother.
