WINTER HAD ALWAYS been one of Liv's favourite seasons – after summer, of course. Despite the cold, she loved the familiar comfort of this time of year. The snow. The Christmas cookies. The fuzzy socks. But most importantly, the way Remus loved it too. Many would consider a family of just two to seem lonely, especially around Christmas time, but Remus had always found a way to make the twenty-fifth of december the sweetest day of the year.

Liv's first Christmas away from home was beginning to dwell on her, though. And there it was again, that funny feeling. That winter feeling. The cold. She wrapped her coat around her just a little tighter, careful not to trip in the snow.

She'd trekked a path yet discovered, slowly following  her fathers footsteps left in the snow. She stopped every moment, taking in every detail of her surroundings – sniffing each and every flower fearing it would be the last she sees until the warmer seasons. The sun glistened through the gaps in the trees every now and then, but when Liv was left in the shade it was very cold.

Liv always knew when she was being followed, almost like a sixth sense, almost a fuzzy feeling. Even alone, surrounded by trees, what seemed like miles away from Hogwarts, Liv felt the familiar sensation. She eyed around the bushes warily, hoping it wasn't something ready to jump out and maul her alive, or worse, Sirius Black.

Don't be silly. Why would Sirius Black be following you?

Remus was ahead and around the corner out of sight, and Liv was alone. Every time she stepped on a stick or a particularly crunchy leaf she'd snap her head towards the direction of the wilderness beside her. She stay still, just for a moment, checking it wasn't her mind playing dirty tricks on her.

"What was that?" she gasped to herself. She knew she wasn't crazy, hearing a sudden movement while stood perfectly still.

"Dad......"

"Are you alright, pup?" Remus called from God knows where, he always wondered off at the wrong times.

"No," Liv sneered, as if the answer was obviously: No I'm not alright, I'm about to be mauled alive! "There's definitely something following us,"

She peered into the large bushes beside her, careful to keep a safe distance. If she squinted her eyes just right, a large pair of grey eyes were staring right back at her – but surely not, surely she was imagining it...

"Who would want to be following us?" Remus called from where he still couldn't be seen. Liv continued to squint, the eyes had disappeared but that strange feeling was certainly still present.

She screamed, stumbling backwards as a threatening lump of fluff jumped out from within the bushes, purring at her feet.

"Fucking hell, Crookshanks!" Liv gasped, clutching her suddenly aching chest. "You almost killed me!"

She bent down, scooping the cat up so he was a little bundles of cuteness in her arms, tickling his soft chest. "What's a good little kitty like you doing so far away from home, huh?"

Remus appeared - 30 second too late - and began to stroke the cat too who was purring frequently. "Who's this?" he asked, patting the cats head.

"This is Crookshanks, Hermione's cat. Say hi, Crooks! I'm looking after him while Hermione's gone – it's like I finnaly have my own pet!"

"Enjoy it while it lasts," Remus said. "You're not getting one,"

"Dad, pleeeaasssee," Liv whined, holding the cute cat up to her fathers face.

"Absolutely not," Remus dismissed her quickly.
