3rd person POV

Jay and (y/n) were at the furniture store, and looking around.

"hey, what about that one." (y/n) points to a bed, jay and (y/n) both walk towards it. "$426, seriously. we won't even be able to pay rent." (y/n) sighs sadly.

"why don't we get a couch, that ones only $234.99." jay says, walking towards a couch near the bed they were looking at. "we could start off with this," jay smiles, glancing at (y/n).

they got the couch home, it was a long couch. it was a pretty light purple, the cushions had some soft padding in it. the couch also came with pillows to go on each edge, and one in the middle.

as nighttime rolled around, it was time to go to bed. it was 12:39am. today was a busy day for the two.

"jay, you can take the couch." (y/n) says, but doesn't get any movement or response. she looks down at him and notices he's sound asleep on her shoulder. she blushes lightly, and smiles.

(y/n)'s pov

i felt my cheeks getting warm as i watched him sleep. this has been happening for a while. i didn't start thinking of him a certain way until i found out about cole and nya. could i really just be having sympathy for him, or is this actually how i feel?

i sigh heavily, i grab my book that was laying on the ledge of the couch. your typical romance book with extra drama. pretty entertaining though.

as i read the book i felt my eyes getting tired, i continued to read the book though. my phone buzzed, and i looked over. i got a reminder saying i have work tomorrow, i read the time which was 1:25am. i began to struggle to focus back on my book because i was so tired.

i close my eyes to only rest them for a minute, but before i knew it. i was sound asleep.

jay's pov

i wake up to (y/n)'s alarm going off, i realize i'm laying on her shoulder, i look over at her and she's asleep.

i tried waking her up but she wouldn't budge. "(y/n), you need to wake up! you have to go to work!" i exclaim, but i still get nothing. shortly after i give up on waking her up, and i sigh.

i turn her alarm off, and get up and extend (y/n)'s legs to stretch throughout the entire couch. i move her upper body to be laying on a pillow.

i begin walking away before i hear a mumble, but i couldn't make out what she was saying. "jay," i hear her call out, i begin walking back over. i look at her face, and her eyes are closed.

"(y/n)? what's wrong?" i ask kneeling down to meet her level, but i get nothing. i chuckle lightly, "must be dreaming." i quietly say to myself.

i grab a blanket, and put it over top of her before i walk away to get myself ready for work.

i put on my work clothes before i go to the bathroom. when i walk in the bathroom i go up to the sink, grabbing my hair brush. i begin to brush through my soft brown hair. afterwards i grab my toothbrush and put some minty toothpaste on the bristles before i wet the brush. i put the toothbrush in my mouth and begin brushing my teeth.

after brushing for a while around my mouth i spit the toothpaste mixed with my saliva out into the sink, i rinse my toothbrush before setting it down.

i sigh and look myself in the mirror, i smile softly, but not long after, my smile disappears. i could feel my eyes tearing up, and i could see my reflection which made me see myself. i saw a tear fall down my cheek, but they did stop. another one.

then another.

and much more after that.

i kept wiping my tears, but they kept coming down. i held my breathe, and i grab my shirt, and begin squeezing it so tight. i didn't want her to hear, even if she was asleep.

i look myself in the mirror, "man up, jay." my voice broke slightly, if im like this now then i don't know how much i can hold up in front of anybody. especially (y/n).

i finally get to a point where i can stop, i turn the water on, and splash cold water in my face. i grab a towel, and pat my face dry. i take a breathe in and out before walking out of the bathroom.

i take (y/n)'s phone and see a photo of her and i on her lock screen, but when i open it i see her and cole as her home screen. i sigh and look at her hopelessly. i click on her bosses contact, and call him.

"(y/n), what's up?" her boss asks in a bit of a stern voice.

"actually, this isn't (y/n)." i say calmly, and he sighs. i could tell he probably rolled his eyes over the phone too.

"then who the hell is this?" her boss questions impatiently.

"this is jay, (y/n)'s..." i pause for a moment, "(y/n)'s boyfriend." it felt weird saying that, but indeed i did.

"oh, well where's (y/n)?" he asks, i bite my lip.

"she's at home, im calling to say she won't be at work today. i apologize, i'm the one keeping her. she's got a small cold and it's contagious." i explain, and move the phone away from my face and pretend to sneeze before putting the phone back up to my face.

"oh goodness, i don't need that around my office."

"yeah, i figured. thank you for your patience, and understanding." i say before i hear the other end hang up the phone, i exhale before putting her phone down.

"glad that's over with," i say to myself. i grab a sticky note and pen. i write a note out for (y/n) for when she wakes up. i put the note on the counter, and grab an apple before heading towards the door.

i slide my shoes on, and look at (y/n) once more and smile as she's asleep. i open the door quietly, and lock it before exiting the house, heading to work.

i get to my car and unlock it with the keys before i open the door, and get in and close it. after i fasten my seatbelt, and insert the key in the ignition before i pull out of the driveway.

i get on the main road, speaking as it takes almost an hour to get to my job area.

i turn up the volume on the radio and start bobbing my head to the music. i was to busy with the music, i forgot to pay attention to the road. i hit the back of someone's vehicle. before i knew it, i blacked out.
