chapter fifteen

(y/n)'s pov

"so, how long does he have to be in the hospital?" i ask the doctor walking out of the room to let the other talk with jay.

"he'll have to be kept here overnight to be monitored, to keep making sure nothing is really wrong still." the doctor replies with a smile, "are you his girlfriend?" she asks.

"oh um, no i um, im just his best friend." i reply, the thought of people thinking we were dating is crazy to me.

i just don't know how to tell him i like him, i feel like a child obsessing over a guy. it took me so long to realize how important he is to me, today was different. the connection between us was different, but what if he doesn't feel the same way.

"you two sure seem very close," the doctor smiles and i laugh a little and she walks away.

"yeah, something like that.." i mumble before walking back into the room to be with everyone.

i see cole and nya walk in after me, i look back at jay who looks at me when the two walk in the room.

"cole," jay looks at cole and then looks at nya, "nya, what are you guys doing here?" jay asks.

"we just wanted to make sure you were okay, we've still got to look out for you." nya answers and jay scoffs.

"yeah, okay." jay answers rolling his eyes.

"hey um, (y/n), can i talk to you for a second?" cole asks me quietly, i look over at jay and look back at cole.

"make it quick, you don't even really deservemy time." i answer as we both walk out of the jay's room. "so what do you want?"

jay's pov

i see cole and (y/n) walk out together, which scares me. my palms begin getting sweaty, I sit up more in my bed and begin trying to get out of bed.

"woah woah woah, jay. you cannot get up, unless you have to use the bathroom." the doctor quickly comes over and lays me back down.

"well i have to use the bathroom.." i lie to the doctor and she sighs.

"do you really have to use the bathroom, or do you just want to chase after (y/n)?" kai asks, i pause for a moment before i let out a sigh.

"please kai, i have to!" i answer, "it's killing me."

"can you guys leave us?" kai asks looking around the room as everyone else walks out and shuts the door behind them.

"listen jay, i know how much you love (y/n), more than a best friend too. i get you're worried, okay, so i mean shit jay, you just gotta tell her how you feel. you can either get the worse of it or get the best thing in your life." kai explains, this is the best advice ive ever heard from kai. normally he isn't good at it.

"what if it ruins my friendship with her?" i ask worriely.

"then she doesn't deserve you jay. now ive seen you go through hell, and you have always come back from it no matter what. i mean shit look at you right now, you just got brain surgery!" Kai shouts and laughs slightly, "so just tell her."

"thanks kai, could you get her in here?" i ask kai and he nods.

"yeah jay, ill get her in here." he smiles before leaving the room, but quickly runs back. "she's gone! (y/n)'s gone!"
