Please note, I'm changing Namjoon's birth year. Since he's 18 in this fic, he was born in 2002 and not 1994 uwu
also, this story takes place in the year 2020, not 2022

"Wake up."
Yoongi shouted profanities, shooting up straight. His hand aimed the gun he had snatched from under his pillow around the room wildly as the cold water that had just been splashed on his face dripped down to the blankets.
Namjoon set the now empty cup down. "Not too fun, is it?"
"I almost killed you." Yoongi growled, shoving the gun back under the pillow.
"I would have dodged it." Namjoon put his hands on his hips. "Listen, I'm going to the station to see if Changwoo or Jungkook found out anything new."
"You didn't have to wake me up to tell me that." Yoongi grumbled, swiping water off his now wet sheets.
"Yes, I did. Because if I didn't and you woke up with me not here, you would have assumed I fled the country, since you still believe I'm guilty of murder."
"Whatever." Yoongi didn't bother denying it. He rolled over to the dry part of his bed and yanked the covers up.
Namjoon yanked them back off. "I also woke you up because you need to give me a ride."
"It's broad daylight, you'll be fine." Yoongi tugged them back.
"Last time I walked alone, you nearly gave me a heart attack. And the time before that, I was attacked. I refuse to walk anywhere unattended." Namjoon crossed his arms. "Besides, you should get up. I'm sure there's things you planned to do today anyways; case related things."
"They can wait one more hour." Yoongi kicked at him, pulling the blankets back up.
"Well I can't. I have class later today, so I need to go to the station now." Namjoon flicked the lights on.
Yoongi ignored him, pulling the covers over his head.
"Come on." Namjoon grabbed them and tugged hard, trying to pull the blankets off the bed. "Get up."
"I'll shoot you." Yoongi warned, meaning it as they did a tug of war.
"You've been saying that for three days now." Namjoon grit his teeth, muscles straining as he fought the surprisingly strong detective. "I'm starting to think you won't."
Yoongi narrowed his eyes, tugging the blankets closer to himself. "Try me."
Namjoon gave up with a huff, letting go of the covers. "Fine! Stay in bed while a killer of two innocent people walks free! Some protector of justice you are!"
He stormed out of the room as Yoongi burrowed under the blankets.
He popped his head back in. "I'm taking twenty dollars to pay for a ride to the station. You owe me it since you won't drive me."
Yoongi ignored him.
Sticking his tongue out at the lump under the covers, Namjoon stomped down the stairs to the kitchen counter, where Yoongi had left his phone and wallet.
He grabbed the wallet and opened it, but there was no cash inside. Just some cigarette's and credit cards.
Sure he could steal the cards, but that couldn't be used to order an Uber unless the driver had a scanner just sitting in his passenger seat.
He looked at the phone. It should be connected to the detectives cards, if he had them saved. And who in this day and age of technology didn't?
Sure he could grab a card and plug it into his own phone, but it would ask him security questions that he couldn't answer and would just be easier to use the detective's phone.
Plus he wanted to snoop.
He grabbed the phone and powered it on. Yoongi's lockscreen was the same picture Namjoon had found of that boy in the bedroom upstairs, the one with the cute dimples.
Except this image was taken from a zoomed out angle, and there was a person kneeling next to the boy, their arm thrown around his shoulders and a gummy smile on his face.
Yoongi.
He looked a few years younger in this picture, his eyes not as dark as they were now.
They were standing in front of a sprawling green lawn. A tall brick building stood behind them, blurry in the background.
Namjoon stared, wondering again who this boy was.
He had never seen Yoongi smile before.
He swiped his finger across the screen and was met with a four digit pin lock.
Huffing, the stripper tried a few guesses, but was locked out for one minute after several incorrect tries.
"Yoongi!" Namjoon yelled up the stairs. "What's your stupid PIN?"
No answer, to no one's surprise.
Grumbling, Namjoon sat down to figure it out.
Obviously the boy in the picture meant a lot to Yoongi; Namjoon would bet the code was the boys birthday. Yoongi didn't seem to be the type to put some random numbers as a password anyways.
Okay, so if the code was a birthday...let's see...he looks like he's five or six in this photo...oh wait, the year wouldn't be added, just the month and date. Fuck, that'll be harder to guess. Okay, well the three most popular birth months are September, August and July.
Namjoon bounced his leg as he thought.
September 9th is the most popular birthday in the world, might as well guess it first.
He typed in 09/09 and hit enter.
Incorrect password. Two attempts remaining.
"Ugh..." Namjoon tossed his head back. "Yoongi!"
He leaned forward again, eyes narrowed in concentration. If he failed, he would just lock the annoying detective out of his phone for as long as he possibly could.
Second most popular birthday in September is the 19th.
09/19
Incorrect password. One attempt remaining.
"Whatever, fuck you anyways." Namjoon muttered, entering in the third most popular birthday, which also happened to be his own birthday.
09/12
Phone unlocked.
Namjoon stared for a few moments, taking a few seconds to process his success.
The boy in the picture had the same birthday as himself? ...what were the odds of that?
Maybe it was a coincidence- that the passcode wasn't a birthday at all. Or maybe it was Yoongi's birthday.
Namjoon looked at the screen, which had no apps, except for the ones that came already downloaded with the phone.
He went to the play store and started downloading a ride share app. He would probably have to plug in the card info, but that was the least of his problems right now.
After the app downloaded, Namjoon ordered a ride, prepaying for it as well as leaving a tip, courtesy of Yoongi's Visa.
As he waited for the driver to show up, Namjoon stared at the lockscreen again, wondering once again who this boy was.
