Jade

Pt. 1

I'm surprised Josh even let me go. I told him what happened and he slapped me across the face for saying yes. He already left a bruise on my left cheek. I don't blame him....he's just...I don't know. I still love him... I think.

Alex and I talked almost the whole time. We talked, we laughed, we told each other almost everything. Emphasis on the almost.

"Okay," I said, stepping into the car as he takes me home. "so what's with the job. You could get any job you wanted, and you chose a waiter? Seriously dude. What the hell."

"I couldn't get a job anywhere else. I tried pretty much everywhere else and I failed miserably. That was the only place that would take me as an employee." He replied, putting the keys into the ignition and driving away from the restaurant.

He turns on the CD once again, and skips the next few songs until the disk reaches the song Traveling On by Kongos. I became so engaged in the song that I couldn't focus on anything else. I didn't even notice that Alex was trying to talk to me until he reached over and turned the knob counterclockwise on the volume button, to turn it down.

"You okay?" he asks, glancing over at me but still keeping his eyes on the road as he drives. "What's your address, so I can take you home?"

"Oh uh yeah I'm fine. Its uh the apartments around the corner." I said, snapping out of my daze.

"Really? What number? One of my friends live there." He replied, turning into the parking lot of the apartment complex.

"203..."

"Hang on, what's your boyfriend's name? Is it Josh?" How does he know Josh?

"Yeah, actually, how do you know him?"

"We've been friends since junior year. But, I can't say I trust him with anything. He's had a record of girlfriends, and they all left him for the same reason."

"How come I've never met you? And why did they leave him?" not that I didn't already know the reason.

"We haven't talked that much since we graduated a few months ago, although we do go out occasionally. And they leave him because he's way too controlling. I don't know the whole story, though."

"Yeah... He can be pretty controlling." I pull my hair even farther over the bruise on my face. I bet he's already noticed it anyway...

"Did he do that to you?" He said as he glanced over at me. He finally found a spot and pulled in, putting the car in park.

I looked at him sheepishly and finally said "Yeah.... It's because I said yes to having dinner with you.... He doesn't like me going out with other guy friends alone."

"I understand the second part, but he still should have trust in you and shouldnt fucking hit you." He replied, getting out of the car. I do the same and run after him.

"What the hell are you doing."

"If he thinks he has any right to hit you, he's gonna wish he never did." I realized he can't get into the building without the key. I went in front of him as he stomped up the stairs. I put the key in the door and opened it, letting him in. I need him to stop this. I'm too afraid of Josh and if I try to do anything about it he'll just hit me again. So I need Alex to fix this.... I'm just going to let him fix this for me.

We walked up the stairs to the second floor. As we got to the door that read "203" I put the key in the lock once more and opened the door. I didn't go inside. I don't know what happened. But I heard crashes and a lot of yelling. All I knew was that Alex came out and said I don't have to worry about Josh anymore.

Josh was knocked out on the couch. His nose was bloody and I knew for sure he would have bruises. I grabbed all my things and put them in a suitcase, and left. I never want to see him again. I hate him. I never loved him.

Now there's a problem. Where am I going to go?
