I'm not that surprised that Josh hasn't tried to contact me since I left him. I think he got the message. I've been living with Alex ever since. My job has been steady, I got fired from my old job because they thought I wasn't "happy enough". I don't really understand it but whatever. It is what it is. So now I work at a record shop called "Days End", don't ask me why it's called that. I have no idea. But, I like it better than my other job. At least with this I can share my love for music with other people.
My life with Alex so far has had its ups and downs. I have gotten jealous...a lot. His parents I don't think like me very much. But, I know he loves me. He has just started pushing me away. He says I can find someone better, he doesn't want to hurt me. Alex probably found someone else...someone better than me. He no longer calls me beautiful, and he doesn't even say good morning anymore...
I need him. I miss him, the old him. The one who would make me feel special.
I admit, I get sad a lot, I don't know why. I think it's depression, or maybe just anxiety. Well, I don't really care what it is, I just want it gone.
I slowly sat up off the bed, and stood next to it. Walking over to the windows, I open the curtains and allow the morning light into the room. It was a small room, and contained a small wooden dresser, a queen size bed, and a small bedside table.
I made my way around the bed and went down the hall, into the bathroom. As I flipped on the switch, I felt Alex wrap his arms around my waist, and kissing up my neck. "Good morning, beautiful." He says, for the first time in months. Seeing his dorky grin in the mirror, I can't help but smile.
"I am not. I look like a bear." I reply, bearing my teeth as he puts one arm around my waist and pulls me close. I give him one small kiss and turn towards the mirror.
Business at Days End was slow today. People went in, then went out without buying anything. I can count on one hand how many people actually bought something. 30 minutes before I get off work, the bells jingle as the door opens. "Hi, welcome to Days End" I say, not looking up from my magazine.
"Well, hello." The person says, that voice is so familiar. I slowly look up. Its Josh. What the hell is he doing here? Did he know I work here? Oh my fucking God.
"H-how can I help you..?" I manage to say, eyes widening. Josh slowly strides over to the register where I stand.
"Nope, just browsing the merchandise."
"How did you find me?"
"I just happened upon this place, thought it looked cool. It's all a matter of coincidence, baby."
"Don't fucking call me that, you abusive asshole."
"I've changed, baby. Please come back to me." He says, reaching over the counter to touch my arms.
"Go to hell, and don't fucking touch me." I say, smacking his arms away. Marie, the manager, comes out of her office, and quickly comes over.
"Get out. Now." Marie has never spoken like that since I've worked here. Not even with annoying teenagers. But, it got Josh to leave. He flipped us off as he stormed out of the record store and down the street. "Who was that? Is that Josh?" I've spoken of Josh to Marie before.
"Yeah, I haven't talked to him since Alex....ya know."
"Well, go home. You should tell Alex about what happened."
"No, I should stay my last 30 minutes. Really I'm fine."
"I insist." Marie said, grabbing the sign in and sign out sheet from behind the counter, and handing me the pen to fill it out.
I thank her, grab my things, and drive home. This'll be fun....
