When Blair enters Draco's room, he's seated in his armchair by the fire. His eyes find hers without wasting a second. Blair closes the door behind her, her heart pounding in her chest. It's a good thing she's tipsy now, if she wasn't, she'd probably faint from all the overwhelming feelings.

"Come here." Draco says.

Blair walks over to the chair he's in, desperately trying to find the right excuses to why she's so late. But stupid little Blair doesn't know that that's not the only reason why he's furious.

"It's pretty late, don't you think?" Draco says, his jaw clenched. She knows he's always angry when he does that. "Well— yeah, a little." She says softly.

Draco gets up from his chair, making her step back. Even when tipsy, Blair now recognizes that darkness in his eyes that's back. She doesn't know how deep his darkness is, how tightly it has wrapped itself around his soul, but all she knows is that it's not just his darkness alone. It's pulling her in, too.

He wants her to know that he's angry now. When everything he knew and loved was taken away from him, so harshly, all he can think about is the anger, hatred and even the revenge that comes after. And no one can save her. He has lost too much. For once, he wants to keep something.

"Did you tell him?" Draco asks her. Blair doesn't need to guess twice to know what he means. All she can do tonight is disappoint him. "No, I didn't." She admits, her bottom lip trembling a little. "I hope you have a very good reason for that." He says.

"I don't want to hurt him." Blair whispers. "You don't get it. He's getting into fights and drinking so much, and he's hurting. He told me everything today and I feel guilty. I know I'm letting everyone down but I don't mean to. It's impossible to keep everyone happy, I don't know how to do it right."

Draco knows this people-pleasing part of her all too well, and he'll get into the depths of it later, but he has to take care of her disobedience first. "And I'm sorry about the party, I just needed some distraction." Blair says, sniffing.

"Distraction from what?" He hisses, balling his hand into a fist. Why doesn't she come to him for distraction? Why'd she rather be with anyone else?

"The Muggles who were killed this morning, of course! Don't you understand that I'm terrified? I have to go home for Christmas in two weeks and I'm so scared to be in a big house all alone!" She hopes that mentioning the murders will spark some empathy into his cold eyes, but it doesn't.

"Then why him? Why go to him instead of me?" Draco says angrily, making her step back again when he comes closer.

"Because I feel like you don't care about the murders at all! I just told you that I'm terrified to be next and you immediately start to talk about Atlas again. My life doesn't revolve around him!"

"And I told you that you have nothing to be afraid of. Don't you get that I'll do anything in my power to keep you safe? You are my fucking life, Blair, I'd never let anyone besides me hurt you." Draco hisses, poking his tongue into the inside of his cheek. He shuts his eyes for a long second when he realizes what he just said.

Blair's face falls. "Besides you? Do you want to hurt me?" She asks, her heartbeat growing weaker in her chest. This can't be true, she must've misheard him. Draco would never hurt her..

He waits too long to answer, giving her the exact answer she doesn't want. Blair's heavy heart drops into her stomach, and she steps back. Strong enough to step back again and again, but weakened enough to have her soul tremble for him when he grabs her waist and stops her from moving away.
