KISS THE GIRL

It felt like I was dreaming when I awoke. Last night replayed fuzzily in my mind, myself debating if it actually happened or not. I let out a yawn before kicking my covers off.

"Where'd you go last night?" Ruby asked, her eyes trained steadily on me. She sat at her desk, trig homework out in front of her. My eyes widened slightly. I had clearly remembered her snoring filling the small space, "I woke up to use the bathroom and you were gone."

"I, uh couldn't sleep." I told her with a sigh, "so I went to the dock."

"And you didn't get caught?"

"By Charlie." Ruby wiggled her eyebrows suggestively. I groaned, shoving my head into my pillow. "Not funny Ruby."

"Sorry, sorry, what happened?" She asked, closing her trig book. I slipped out of bed, grabbing my uniform from the closet.

"Well, he thought I had a crush on Knox or Todd, which is totally ridiculous because I never once showed any signs that I liked either of them like that." I rambled, running a brush through my hair. "And he told me he liked me."

"He what?!" Ruby asked, her jaw dropping. She hurriedly pushed her chair in. I laughed at her response whilst I made my way to the bathroom, Ruby hot on my heels. "Answer me!" I smiled, ignoring her cries. I brushed my teeth, Ruby asking a dozen questions in my ear. "Did he say anything else?" The brunette grabbed my shoulders, forcing me to stop. "Josephine Perry, you will answer me."

"Okay, okay! He just told me he liked me and I said I liked him too, that's all." I insisted. It was the truth, we didn't kiss and I didn't feel the need to tell her about the conversation we had about my brother.

"That's it?" She asked unconvinced. I sighed, giving her nod. "Boring."

"Come on, let's go to breakfast," I told her, gesturing towards the stairs. She let out a small groan, grabbing her bag from the chair.

"What's for breakfast anyways? The nasty cinnamon raisin grits?" She asked in disgust. Our feet pounded down the stairs, us two being the only ones not in the dining hall.

Todd was the first person to see us, offering a warm smile. It was nice to see Todd breaking out more. He had started to interact with the group as opposed to just sitting and listening and it made me happy. "Oh yes, it's waffles!" Ruby cried, taking a seat and immediately piling her plate. I chuckled sitting next to her.

"You're going to choke if you don't slow down." Knox told the girl beside me as she scarfed down the waffles in front of her. She paid him no mind and kept eating.
