FysteeUnicorn: The fox is a symbol of Lila(bc of her identity as Volpina) and the reason why this little fox looks so "innocent" is to represent the facade that Lila puts on when talking(or should I say LYING🙄) to others, trying to get sympathy and others to be on her side(🙄😒). So whenever you see the little fox, Lila will play an important role or be the main focus for one(or more) of the characters in that chapter.
Rosie
The living room was trashed, the couches toppled over, the 3 bookshelves sprawled across the floor with large cracks in the dark wood, broken off shelves, and the books with bent pages, some ripped in half, the torn paper blown across the room.
Maman did this.
The glass from the lamp desk was shattered, the pieces scattered across the carpet, some of the shards embedded in her arms and hands, large scratches on her face, blood smeared across her already red cheek, trickling down her skin, but she ignored the stinging pain as her brain paused, realization quickly sinking in, overwhelming her body and leaving a large lump in her throat.
I did this.
Rosie sank to the floor, her arms trembling, straight lines, and her fingers scuffed the carpet as she gently curled them, her vision blurring as tears poured down her cheeks, crying softly, guilt looming over her, clutching her tightly, almost suffocating her.
This is all my fault. It's all because of me. If I hadn't angered Lila, none of this would've happened. What have I done to Maman? What have I done?
A loud, muffled thump, followed by a horrified scream echoed from one of the guest bedrooms. The guilt tightened its hold on her, squeezing firmly, unflinching from the treacherous agony of shame and regret.
That sounded like Mari. Oh no. What have I done? She's in trouble and it's all my fault. I did this to her. To Adrien. To everyone. What have I-
"Rosie..."
"Rosie!"
"ROSIE!"
Rosie's head snapped up, a small gasp escaping her lips as the sound of people's voices calling her name. She found herself gazing at her classmates, all of them looking at her with worried and concerned eyes, minus Lila, who was still in the sitting room and while she was looking at Rosie, her eyes weren't that of concern or worry. They were of loathing, disgust, resentment, her lips pressed into a thin, firm line, her eyebrows narrowed severely.
Rosie returned her own gaze to her classmates, her eyes passing over every person, seeing the same expression mirrored in their faces as they looked at her arms, hands, and face in shock, horror, sympathy.
The red handprint on her cheek.
The scarlet drops smeared across her skin.
Glass jutting out from her arms, hands, and face.
Nataniel was kneeling in front of her, face fuming while his eyes were grim and serious. Rosie gazed at him, his set jaw and thin, firm lips tightening as his own gaze dropped from her face to her arms and hands, his eyes hardening.
"Rosie. Who did this? Who hurt you?"
The last few words came out snarled, angry, her mouth gaping open in shock at his words, the venom in his eyes so different and foreign from the kind, gentle look he normally wore.
"I... I'm..."
Her throat was sore and tight but she forced herself to shove aside the stinging pain that prickled against her skin, the overwhelming guilt, and focused on the task at hand: getting Mari and Adrien out of the room they were trapped in and saving her maman from Hawkmoth or Shadowmoth or whatever that villain called himself.
