Chapter 9 2/2

Ladybug

Fleur Glace fired another blast of ice as Carapace leaped in front of her.

The harsh stream of frost hit Carapace in the head, a single cry of pain escaping his lips as the force knocked him to the ground.

"Carapace!"

Ladybug screamed her teammate's name, begging, pleading with him to get up.

But the green suited superhero lay still, his arm draped over his side, his brown eyes closed, a trickle of scarlet rolled down his face from a dark spot in his light hair as a thick layer of ice crept up his body, the blood sliding down to his jawbone and a single drop of the scarlet liquid froze as a small bead against the ice, the crackling echoing harshly in Ladybug's ears.

"No...Carapace..."

Her vision blurred as large tears welled in the corners of her eyes, her body limp as she slumped down, her knees hitting the ground with a sharp pain.

Her brain didn't register the discomfort as the world slowed down, the battle in front of her blurring together.

Her already called Lucky Charm lay forgotten in her limp hand, the long red seat belt with black dots gleaming ironically in the dim moonlight.

"....bug! Ladybug! Watch o-"

A large, cold blast slammed into her side and threw her across the smooth cobblestone, the Lucky Charm flying through the air and landing far away.

Her body rolled across the hard pavement as she felt an unnatural cold seep into her skin, sticking to her suit and crawling up her arm, slowly spreading to her leg and sliding up her shoulder.

Another icy blast hit her upside the head as she tried to get up, knocking her down once again.

Her vision blurred as she rolled in and out of consciousness, her body throbbing from the icy chill that crawled up her body and the sharp, intense pain that was currently taking over her head.

She felt something warm trickle down the side of her face and roll off the bottom of her jaw. An iron smell hit her nose and a metallic taste dribbled into her mouth and slid down her tongue.

Blood.

Ladybug simply lay there, her body struggling to stay awake as the pain suddenly exploded all over her body, a sharp, icy chill instantly following.

"....Lady! Ladybug!"

She carefully rolled her eyes to the direction her partner's voice had come, trying to focus on him as he ran toward her, kneeling as he gently cradled her limp, cold body in his warm, reassuring arms.

"M'Lady..."

His gentle, soothing voice rolled over her like a warm blanket, lulling her into a state of pleasant, reassuring euphoria.

She carefully turned her head to face him, smiling weakly as his worried green eyes gazed over her face, tears welling in the corners of them.

"...Chat...Don't worry about me...Please...help Fleur. She needs help. Please..."

"No, you need help. I'll go find-"

"Non, Chat. Go help Fleur. She's in more need than I am. Please, Chat. Go... help...Fleur..."
