A/N: Will It Be Safe To Acknowledge That This Book Is Highly Underrated?!😑😑

Only but human.

She was only but a fractured human.

Her flesh bled blood and her soul was ever heavy ladened. Though, she could be likened to a bird once free - wings broken and freedom limited, she was still human.

"Of course, there are still chances of one contracting STDs even after making use of protections." Mrs Alice their Biology teacher had entered their class during their free period to revise for the fast approaching termly exam, with her students.

She stilled.

Her pen dropped on her jotter and for once since the class began, she looked up to behold Mrs Alice.

"Ma?" Her hand had shot up, in a bid to ask a question.

The class kept shut. To hear her utterance. To know what had suddenly quipped her attention.

Mrs Alice nodded at her. And without standing up, she proceeded. "Can a twelve year old get an STD?"

Her face looked stoic and intimidating. Like she was daring anyone to give her unwanted and uncomfortable stares.

"Where have your mind been all this while, Ruth?! Of course, a molested child can get an STD." Mrs Alice frowned.

She sucked in her breathe.

Are you sure she hasn't gotten STD? And she's masking everything with a twelve year old.

That girl be Olosho, I swear down.

Aunty don carry one ooo.

Her heart dropped.

She took in a breathe. And another. Till she couldn't respire enough and she literally had to take ENOUGH.

"I don't want to hear pim, here again. You hear?__ Who are those still talking in my class?!  Now you, Frank come get out of my class, now!!" Mrs Alice confronted those that had dropped ignorant remarks.

Her eyes had moistened. But she fought it back. They had now rights to drop. They must stay back inside....

And they did.

"But Ma, with did I do wrong? Was I wrong when I called her a whore?" The voice of a stubborn Frank didn't help matters.

At that moment... Her mind flashed back to a certain part of her unburied past.

"Now shut up and get back to your room?" Her mother had scolded.

She shook her head vehemently. For all she cared, Mummy could use her whip or slippers on her but going back was impossible.

"Ruth!!" Her mother scolded, getting frustrated.

She lunged at her mom, hugging her tightly, even though her head only ended at her mom's knees.

She cried.

"Stop this, Ruth! Nobody can do that to you in my house. Now go and SLEEP." With that, she got harshly pushed away.

"Mummy..."

"Leave!!!" The door was slammed on her.

More tears dropped from her eyes. She shivered as the chills from the night air had filled her passage. It had escaped from the windows.

Her feet made to run. But her mind couldn't come to terms with that.

The rain was heavy and the scary thunder bolts always sent unholy shivers down her poor spine.
