Chapter 4 - The Big Show

A few days before the show...

Everything was coming together nicely before the big show. Morfornica and the other bands are ready to go. There was nothing else left for them to work on, so now the only thing they can do is wait until the main event to start.

As for me, I am just finishing up with work for the day. Not once, have I thought about the closure of my favorite live house, because if I did, it would affect my ability to focus on work. Right when I was clocking out, however, I got a surprise visit from Touko, and all of the sudden, I was beginning to feel weird inside.

"Hi there, bestie. How was work?" Touko asked.

"It went well, for once." I replied. "But what brings you here? I thought Morfornica was doing rehearsals at Nanami's today."

"Ah, yes, we just finished with rehearsals, and I was hoping we can walk home together." Touko explained as my excitement went through the roof.

"Yeah, that's fine. Give me a moment." I said and gather my stuff, then the two of us left the live house.

Location - Residential Area

Touko and I haven't left the live house within ten minutes and already, things were awkward between us. I don't even know what to say to her, even though this is my best friend were talking about.

I still thought about what Nanami suggested a while back. As much as I want to ask her out now, I want her to focus on the show, and not get distracted. And then of course, I should figure out where I want to take Touko out on this "date".

"Hey, what are you thinking about?" Touko asked.

"Huh? Me? Nothing at all." I replied, but all that did was made Touko glare at me.

"Come on, don't be like that!" Touko said. "You know you can't hide anything from me, so spill the beans."

I guess there is no point in hiding it now, so I took a deep breath before talking.

"I was... feeling bad about how I hid the fact that Comet was closing, and not say anything to you." I said in a soft tone.

"Oh, that? You don't have to feel sorry." Touko said.

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"Yep. It's all good." Touko said. Even though she is still willing to forgive me, I still want to make it up to her.

"I feel like I should make it up to you, if that is okay with you." I said.

"Well, okay... I know you're usually stubborn about this, so what do you have in mind?" Touko asked.

"I was thinking something along the lines of a date-" I said before being cut off by Touko.

"A date? You want to take me on a date?" She asked.

"I mean, if you're up for it..."

"Yeah, I am up for it!" Touko said with feeling.

"Well, that made things easy." I said and formed a smile.

The day of the show...

Location - Live House Comet, Backstage

Today was the day of the big show. I took a good look at the audience, and there a lot of people here, and there were more coming. I just hope this would count as a full house.

After a while, there was no more space and the audience was eager for us to start. I was currently backstage with Morfonica as they were the first band to perform.

"Alright girls, be ready to go." I said.

"I am a bit nervous, but I can do it." Mashiro said.

"We can do this." Touko said.

"I am ready to put on a good show." Nanami said.

"We've been practicing very hard for this moment, we don't have a reason to be scared." Tsukushi said.

"How do you feel, Rui?" Touko asked.

"I don't feel anything." Rui said. Now I am convinced that Rui is a robot. After all, they can't feel any emotions.

At last, the manager came to the stage and said a few words to the audience. And when it was time, Morfonica got on stage and position themselves.

"Hi there... we are Morfonica." Mashiro shyly said to the audience. But her voice was loud enough for them to hear her.

"Umm... please enjoy our song: Harmony Day."

After the show...

Location - Live House Comet, Lobby

Your POV

Every band did a good job with their performances. Even the owner went out of her way to come see the other bands perform. Once the shows were over and when everyone went home, there was an after party that all the bands took part in.

However, the owner requested me, the manager and the other staff to hang out for a bit to determine whether or not we did a good job in handling tonight's events.

"I must say, you guys did an excellent job with the show. The best one I have seen in ages." The owner said.

"Thanks owner." The manager said with a smile.

"I went around and spoke to the customers about how they feel about the show." The owner went on. "And they told me that they would like to see this again some other time."

Some other time? Does this mean what I think it means?

"Does this mean we won't be closing Comet?" I asked.

The owner smiled.

"Yes, that is exactly what it means."

As we heard this news, we began to jump for joy with excitement. Comet was still going to be around, and I ran off to share the good news with Touko.
