(Ava's pov)
President Snow. His snake-like eyes glaring at me and the scent of blood that filled the room made me know that he meant business.
"Good day, President Snow," I bowed my head politely. "What have I done to bestow this honor?"
"Don't be so fake with me," Snow laughed. "Should we both promise to not lie to each other?"
"That would make matters simpler I guess," I shrugged. "Why are you here?"
"The districts don't believe your little love act," Snow sighed. "And frankly, neither do I. And if a 13 year old from 12 and her group of friends can defy the Capitol and get away with it, what's to prevent uprisings?"
"But we all do love each other," I said, hoping I was a good liar. "We haven't had any issues."
"Don't lie to me," Snow said seriously. "You made a promise."
"Why aren't you just killing us?" I retorted.
"That would cause issues," Snow looked at me and said warmly. "The districts would be more angry then."
"What do you want me to do?" I asked regretfully.
"Convince the districts, and me of your love stories," Snow sneered. "If not your family and friends are in danger."
"That's all I need to do?" I questioned in shock.
"Yes, but I should also let you know," Snow smirked. "Killing a 13 year old victor seems cruel. But, if you don't succeed and you turn 14, I will make everyone you care about die then kill you in the worst way possible. Everything relies on your performance during this tour."
"Okay, thank you President Snow," I bowed my head again as he started to leave the room.
"Oh and by the way," Snow looked back at me. "I know about that kiss."
It took me a minute to realize what he meant and when I did, I knew I was screwed. How could he know about that? And it was just one time, and an accident!
It was about 2 weeks ago. Lily was sick so Matt and I decided to head out and go hunting. This was before Matt and Lily started fighting all the time. We were having a perfectly good time, just hunting normally and walking around. At one point, we just started talking while walking, and forgot about hunting. He then tripped and we tumbled down a hill together. Matt landed on top of me when we stopped. He then did the unexpected. He kissed me, and I kissed him back. It surprised how good of a kisser he was, and how much I liked it. We then popped up and agreed to never talk about it again. After that, the fighting started and I haven't gone hunting since that day.
If Snow knows about that, who is to say he wouldn't tell Lily and Ben about this. I bet this will be held over my head for the entire tour unless we can convince him of our love.
I didn't pay attention to the prep team making me all pretty again, and I barely even noticed my friend Cinna showing me what I would be wearing. Of course, he picked a sapphire colored coat, hat, and gloves to go along with my nickname.
"Well, Ms. Sapphire," Cinna laughed. "Are you ready to continue the act?"
"It's not an act," I pouted childishly, "It's real and I can prove it."
"The time to prove it is now then," Cinna opened the door to reveal cameras. "Shine bright like a diamond, or should I say Sapphire."
I walk out smiling and see Ben walk out of his house. Well it's time to sell it. Smiling like an idiot, I sprint up to him and give him a huge hug. Confused, he gives me one back. I look over at Matt and see him kiss Lily on the cheek. Jealousy runs through me and I know I must do better. Just to hit a nerve, I purposely trip over Ben and fall on him, then give him a kiss on the lips.
"Hey Caesar," Matt interrupted us. "It's nice to have the Capitol be able to see us."
"It pleases us to see your young love," Caesar cheered. "So how is everything going?"
"I'm so happy that because of the Capitol's generosity we are able to enjoy each other," I faked a smile.
"That's all for now folks, join us on the Victory Tour to see more of these victors!" Caesar exclaimed.
Sighing, I turn around to see everyone looking strangely at me other than Effie. Effie looks like she just won the lottery after my performance. Ben looks sadly at me and puts his hand on my shoulder.
"For a second, I thought that kiss was real," He looked away. "It felt real. But after what you said, I knew it was just fake like everything else between us."
"What do you mean?" I questioned, highly confused. "It's not fake."
"You don't have to lie anymore, Haymitch told me," Ben mumbled. "It's made me just not want to see you anymore."
"But Ben," I pleaded, "It actually was real!"
"Just don't talk to me," Ben walked away.
I looked at Haymitch, who was eavesdropping and glared at him. The drunk looked shocked at Ben's reaction and sorry for me. This is just what I need right now, to have Ben hate me when the sake of the district's lives rests on us convincing everyone of our romance.
I waved goodbye to our district once we were leaving on the train. They decided to have Ben and I have rooms on the last car of the train and Matt and Lily on the 2nd car. Welp, this will be interesting.
Walking over to Lily, I noticed there seemed to be something different about her. Instead of a positive aura, it was negative. Also, when I tried to sit beside her, she immediately moved away, looking disgusted.
"Lily what's wrong?" I asked, highly concerned.
"And to think that we were best friends," Lily glared at me. "But you can't be trusted can you, you stupid little slut?"
"What are you talking about?" I was taken aback. "What have I done to lose your trust? How in the world am I like that?"
"Maybe kissing my boyfriend would be something," Lily maintained her evil glare. "I always knew that you loved him, you little piece of shit."
"Lily, I swear I have no feelings for him whatsoever!"
"So you aren't denying that you kissed him, Avalon?" She looked ready to kill.
"It was an accident Lily!" I whined. "We were out hunting but you were sick so you couldn't come that day and I tripped over a rock and when we landed, our lips were crushed together. I'm sorry!"
"Save it and damn you," Lily slapped me and walked away. "I don't want you to ever talk to me again!"
Crying, I just sat there alone in the main cabin. This could not happen at a worse time for me. Maybe I should just let Snow kill me.
"Ava," Matt ran into the room. "What's up with everyone? Why does Lily seem more upset than normal? And what did you do to Ben? He won't even talk to me now."
"First why did you interrupt Ben and I's kiss?" I asked in fury, knowing he caused all my problems.
"That doesn't matter right now," He turned away, his face red. "Just tell me what you did to everyone so we can end this unreasonable drama okay?"
"Why did you tell them?" I asked, knowing my anger was evident in my voice. "No, why did you do it?"
"Tell them what?" Matt seemed confused. "And do what? You are being so vague about this!"
"Let me just clear things up in that dense head of yours," I punched his head. "They know about it, I didn't tell them, so you must have."
"I still don't know what-," Matt started then his eyes widened. "Ava, I didn't tell them!"
"Well, how do they know it then?" I slapped his face again.
"I don't know!" Matt held his hands in the air. "Someone else must have told them."
"Snow," I mumbled to myself. "I wonder who could have seen it."
"Believe me, I don't have any idea about it," Matt sighed. "Sorry."
"Why did you do it?" I looked into his eyes. "Why did you kiss me that day?"
"I honestly don't know and I wish I hadn't," Matt put his hand on my head. "Maybe it's because something about how fierce and pretty you are made me."
"T-Thanks," I stuttered, probably blushing.
"Well, I've got to get going," Matt chuckled. "I'm going to try to clear things up. I suggest you do the same. Bye!"
"Bye Matt," I sadly said. "Please save us. I mean, our friendship with Lily."
When Matt left the room, I felt suddenly sorrowful and knew especially lonely, more than when Lily and Ben left me. Welp, these feelings couldn't come over me at a worse time, could they? It just occurred to me that I have feelings for Matt. This makes our situation more complicated. Now I have to lie to them and I'm just hurting them worse. Yep, I'm a goner.Hey! Happy Easter! Sorry about this story still being, welp, bad. It will probably be like this for the next couple chapters, but it will get good I promise you! And also sorry about the strange grammar and writing style, I can't think of another way to write it. Please leave tips on writing styles because mine sounds like a 4 year old is writing this, other than the curse words oops. Bye! Thanks for reading this story!
