That next day, Leah entered the cafeteria smiling, actually looking forward to it for once...

She spotted the boy from across the room as he sat at her usual table. Leah speed-walked toward him as she slithered through the crowd.
"Hi alex..!" She panted as she finally reached the table,

"Hey Leah!" He responded, smiling, looking up as her. "You're a bit late, you good?" He asked, confused as his eyes darted to the red mark on her cheek..

"Oh.. uhm.. yeah. All good." The girl looked down at the tile floor as she put down her beige backpack next to the boy's green one.

Leah smiled, trying to dismiss the topic as she asked "Did Mr. Anko also assign you that weird essay?" 

"Yeah- it was like, super confusing! Mine is on the presidency history of Canada. What about you?"

"Mine was on Canadian currency,, but yours sounds even harder-" Leah laughed a little, enjoying their conversation even though the boy was mostly carrying it..

As the boy kept talking, and so did she.. they kept up this routine, every day at lunch they met at the same table. As they got to know each other better, they planned to go out to the park one weekend..

Leah walked on the gravel trails,, her warm boots making footprints in the snow as she was walking to the streetlight they had decided to meet at.

Looking around, she saw him walking up. She smiled a bit, excited at him actually being here. 
She had been stood up before, and sure, Alex wasn't popular like the other guys who had. But she still had some doubts.. 

They started talking, their conversations went on and on as they talked, and suddenly it was 5:45pm. She had only came to the park at 1:30pm.. how could time fly so fast?

The two said their goodbyes, and agreed to do the same thing every Friday...

And they did! 

Leah and Alex grew closer and closer,

she started hanging out with him and his friends,

it seemed as if they had became best friends in only 2 months.
