Chapter 6

Jesse, Noah, and Riley were walking home from school when a group of 11th-grade boys walked up to them.

"Well well well if it isn't Riley Rollins and who are these little one?" The guy name Mike asked

"My little brother and sister." Riley said

"Oh, so they are your adopted brother and sister." The smaller boy name Elijah said

"No." Riley said

"Are you sure?" Mike questioned

"Yes, I'm sure. What the hell do y'all want?" Riley asked

"Because we just want to know if you were adopted." James said

"Why would you think I'm adopted?" Riley asked as she raised one of her eyebrows.

"Well because both of your parents are white and also they are lesbian. You are black which makes you adopted. That goes with this little guy over here. He likes nothing like his mothers. They've been lying to you both." Elijah said

"Fuck off you jackass." Riley said as Jesse, Noah, and Riley started walking home.

4:05 pm Rollins-Benson household

Amanda was sitting on the couch with Billie when Riley, Jesse, and Noah walked into the house.

"Hey guys, how was school?" Amanda asked

"It was okay." Riley said

"It was fun." Jesse said as she walked over to Billie.

"It was fine." Noah said as he walked upstairs.

Amanda looked at Riley for an answer.

"Something happened on our way home, and I think Olivia should talk to him." Riley said

"What happened?" Amanda asked

"Just a group of boys that are a grade ahead of me keep saying that we were adopted. Because we look nothing like y'all, especially me. But I do have a question." Riley said

"What is it?" Amanda asked

"I'm adopted?" Riley asked

"What? No, you are not adopted." Amanda said

"Okay, then who is my father?" Riley asked

"Riley, I don't think you are old enough yet." Amanda said

"Not old enough yet im fourteen not a fucking bady." Riley said

"I know that, but Riley i don't just dont want to talk about it yet." Amanda said

Riley just rolled her eyes and walked downstairs.

Amanda just sighed as she watched Riley walk downstairs.

Downstairs

When Riley walked downstairs she was surprised to see Noah sitting outside of her bedroom door.

"What up Noah?" Riley asked as she walked up to Noah.

"Can I ask you a question?" Noah asked

"Sure what is it?" Riley asked

"Do you know if I'm adopted?" Noah asked

"I think that you should talk to your mom about that one." Riley said as they walked into her bedroom.

"So, I'm adopted." Noah said

"Sì, tua madre ti ha adottato quando eri solo un bambino. Va bene." Riley said in Italian hoping Noah did not understand what she just said, but she was wrong.
