"This is so sketchy." Thalia rubs her hands together as we stroll through the woods. "So we just wander the woods until we find the clearing where your challenge will take place?"

"There were specific directions that Hagrid told me, but I forgot them." I admit. "Is it just me, or does he remind you of Tyson?"

Thalia laughs, "A little bit, yeah. Same fascination with insane magical creatures that terrify everyone else."

Thalia is walking me to the challenge, since I'm going early and no one else is ready yet.

"Hey, Thalia?" I ask. "After this, cheeseburgers back in the city at that one hotel with the killer fries? I feel like we haven't hung out in forever."

Thalia smiles slowly. "Sounds good. Hey, maybe we should bring Nico along. Just like after that crazy quest for the sword of Hades."

"Let's turn it into a regular thing." I suggest. "Get Hazel and Jason in on it, too. A support group for children of the Big Three."

Thalia laughs at that, but doesn't reply otherwise as we walk into a massive clearing. There is a huge section of bleachers for spectators, protected by a magical, shimmering bubble that I guess is there to keep the viewers safe from the elements that us Champions will have to face. I can't see what exactly is to come, since a non-transparent version of the bubble covers the rest of the area, there to keep anyone from learning what the challenge is ahead of time.

"So." I say, since no one else is here yet. "You excited for quidditch tommorow?"

"Yeah." She grins, then turns to me. "I don't think I ever properly thanked you for what you did, with my fear. It's been killing me for years. The daughter of King Zeus, Lord of the Sky, scared of heights? Downright shameful. You could have told someone about it, but you never did. You just kept quiet, then helped me when you had an opportunity. Now I can do this." With a laugh, she floats a few feet into the air.

"Cool!" I exclaim.

"What the bloody hell are you doing?" A british voice questions, and Thalia falls out of the air.

She comes up with an excuse on the spot. "Levitation spell."

"Never one that I've seen." Remarks Hermione, who has come down with Harry, the original speaker.

Thalia looks at me, sheer panic on her face, so I calm her down

(remember, conversations in Ancient Greek are in italix)

"Don't worry, Thals. They'll just assume that it's some American spell. And even if they don't, it's not like the next logical leap is that we're actually Greek demigods and you're a daughter of Zeus who can control the winds to make herself fly." I pat her back, and she sighs.

"Thanks, Perce. Sometimes you actually say smart things. Who woulda thought?" She giggles, and I fake outrage.

"That was ancient Greek, right?" Hermione asks, and Thalia and I both nod fearfully.

"Why?" I ask, awaiting her answer,

She smiles. "Oh, I've been studying it. I only picked up the words for American, daughter, winds, and smart."

"Oh." I struggle for something to say. "We were just talking about how Thalia's American dad works in the Ministry there, and he specializes in spells about wind and weather, so he taught her some. He's really smart."

Harry seems satisfied with this, and he turns away, disinterested. Hermione looks at Thalia curiously for a few moments, then turns back to Harry and continues whatever conversation they werehaving before they interrupted ours. I think Hermione might know a little more than she lets on, though, so I make a mental note to be careful what I say and do around her from now on.
