Fingers arched as they tossed the ball towards the dark curly athlete also known as Sakusa Kiyoomi, the number one ace in Japan high school level. You watched as the ball flew to the ace in a perfect arc before it met his hand, slamming it down to the ground. "How was that?" You asked.

The ace hummed. "It could've been a little higher."

"Right."

An arm wrapped itself around your shoulders, accompanied by the weight of the other friend of

yours. " Tobio-Kun, you're such a Goody-Two-Shoes."

You furrowed your brows, confused. "What's a Goody-Two-Shoes?"

Atsumu grinned at you with mirth. "Exactly what it says, you're too nice and obedient." You cocked your head. You weren't sure how you were being nice, lenient, or compliant but nice?

After that game, you and the couple rested on a nearby bench, gulping down on your water bottle.

"So, Tobio-Kun," You eyed Atsumu who grinned at you. "How's life?"

You shrugged, running your tongue over your lips to get the droplets of water that escaped. "Okay, one of my teammates, who's a literal tangerine, is very. . .hyper." You tilted your head in thought. "He's also short but he can jump high."

Sakusa hummed beside you. "Sounds like that annoying seagull."

Atsumu laughed in response. "Yeah, I bet they'll get along well."

You huffed out a laugh.

"Kageyama?"

You stopped in mid-laugh, turned to lock on familiar emerald green eyes from behind you, staring at you with. . . longing? Regret? You didn't know.

You gave him a polite, yet reluctant, wave. "Hello, Iwaizumi-san"

Atsumu followed your gaze. "Ooh, someone you know, Tobio-Kun?"

You nodded. "He was my senpai in middle school."

Atsumu hummed before he smirked, wrapping an arm around you as he leaned towards you. "And not your soulmate?"

You furrowed your brows. "I thought I told you my soulmates died."

A chuckle. "That's right. They're dead." His breath blew through your hair and into your hair, making you shiver.

"Oi Tsumu, stop making him uncomfortable." Sakusa scolded.

"But he's so cute, Omi!" The faux blonde began squeezing the life out of you. Sakusa scoffed before prying his boyfriend off you. "Are you okay?" He asks, cupping your face as he inspects your face. Heat washed your face as your heart palpitated from the closeness. "Sakusa-san, y-you're - I haven't put alcohol on-"

"Oh, don't worry. " Atsumu hugged you from behind. " I smothered alcohol on your cheeks while you didn't notice. "

"Hah--?"

Someone coughed.

You turn to Iwaizumi-san, who gave a strained smile to your two friends. " You three seem awful. . . close."

You furrowed your brows as you felt an edge in his voice. " Are you okay, Iwaizumi-san?" The ace's eyes soften a tad bit as they turned to you. "I-"

"Jealousy is not a good look on you, Iwa-Kun."

You whipped to Atsumu-san, who's giving your former senpai a smirk that oddly seems arrogant. It grew bigger as he places his head on your shoulder. "Though, I'm not sure why you have to be jealous when it's clear you don't have an actual bond with your kouhai. You can't be one of his since they're all dead."

"At least, according to him," Sakusa added, taking your hand into his. You stared at the two in confusion. You don't mind the touch, you were a touch-starved person. But why are they being so touchy with you today? Aren't they in a relationship with each other? Maybe they're comfortable with you? Yeah, that's it. They're not into you. Nope, no way.

You grunted as you realized Sakusa-san's statement. "They are dead." You then showed them the grey hearts on your arm. "See, they're grey. "

Atsumu raised his head from your shoulder to see your marks. "Huh, so they are dead." He then sends Sakusa-san a smile. "That means he's free, Omi!" You had to push down the blush that threatens to go up to your face as the faux blonde hugged you, nuzzling into the crook of your neck. "A-Atsumu-s-san!? W-why-?" You quickly looked at Sakusa-san, supposedly to send an apologetic look to him since his boyfriend is clinging onto you like life support, but you were shocked as you saw a smile from him.

Though it wasn't visible, you could see the crinkles on the edges of his eyes. He wasn't annoyed or irritated it seems he finds it something too fond over. "You look cute when you're a tomato."

"Sakusa-san!"

Dread then seemed a bit late as you remember that there's someone here other than the three of you. "Iwaizumi-san-"

The green-eyed boy waved off. "It's okay, I will be going now." When he looked at you, you saw pain and a huge bit of longing, seeing them makes you want to run up to him and ask what's wrong. And you were about to do that when he started walking away from you.

It reminds you of how you saw Kindaichi after the practice match.

You felt the urge to pee so you went to the bathroom, what you weren't expecting was to bump into the turnip-head himself. He stares at the sink, hands gripping it hard to the point of breaking. You would apologize, you reminded yourself as you stepped towards him. He sees you from the corner of his eye but doesn't do anything, much to your surprise.

It was quiet for a moment before you spoke. "Kindaichi-"

"You've changed again."

You closed your mouth as Kindaichi looked at you, eyes with emotions swirling like a whirlpool as if they were trying to blend into one color. It took your breath and had it stuck in your throat, you didn't speak, making him continue.

"I don't get it. During third-year middle school, you changed into that tyrannical king. Now. . ." He sighs, straightening himself. "You changed to a scary person who-"

"Referenced the crazy black woman, Madea, and one of her scenes? Yup."

Kindaichi let out a wheeze at your blank statement before giving you a look that you could describe as soft. This might as well be the time you apologize. Taking a breath, you spoke. "I'm sorry for the way I acted during Middle school." You brought a hand to scratch your scalp. "I was going through stuff and I didn't know who to vent it to. So I vent it out through volleyball."

"You could've told me and Kunimi though." He protested.

"But did you ask?"

He kept quiet, letting you speak.

"After that match, my hearts turned black all of the sudden and that's when I broke. I didn't have anyone to talk to, Miwa was in college, my parents are out of the country, and My grandpa died. So I was alone. Maybe that was the reason why I started to remember my past life memories."

Kindaichi's eyes widened. You didn't have to keep all of this a secret, he asked and now he deserves and answers. You didn't care.

"So, yeah. I learned to change after that." You finished, waiting for his reply. His eyes watered a bit before moving to your arm. "Then why are your marks grey. " You looked at your soulmate marks, indifference snowing through. "They turned grey during the summer, though, I don't remember them." You paused as you tried to recall any interaction with them. "I don't think I met them at all."

When you met his eyes, they filled with regret, anguish, and . . .Longing?
