"Doesn't today feel weird?"

"You know what, it does."

The little group was walking out off the school building. The group included a geek, an actress, a recluse, a pianist, and a writer.

"Aside from the new kid, it seems just like yesterday," said Alice, the actress.

"It's strange how everyone is fawning over him," Whined Amy, the writer.

"Yeah, but do you guys even remember your 5th birthday?" noted Judie, the pianist.

There was a unanimous shaking of heads.

Lori, the geek, said, "Life just doesn't seem...."
"Real," finished Maddie, the recluse.

The group strolled in an awkward silence before Amy made a comment.

"They say the world didn't end in 2012, but has any year since then felt real?"

~~~~~
"They all seem to be attracted to me."
It was an awkward conversation started. But it was an accurate report of his first encounter among the humans.
"Agent 13015, you are forbidden from making connections with the humans. Your mission is to collect data and guide the subjects toward system operator 1. From there, they will be on their own to reconnect Project Sapien to Cassiopeia."
"I understand, sir. but how should I do that?"
"Simple," the unknown man stated, before the connection broke.
~~~~~

"Ugh, I hate math," Amy groaned, rubbing her temples. THe group had ended up in the basement of Maddie's house, studying.

"I know right," Judie agreed, furiously attempting to scribble formulas.

"Here, let me help," Alice suggested, getting up from her spot on the floor.

"Guys," Lori noted, "who invented math?"

The group fell into a thought- provoking silence.
