HAMLYN

Something was wrong with Anastazia, I felt it deep inside. But I could not miss the lectures on the first day so I begrudgingly went over to gym. I had heard enough fragments of conversations to put together. Octavian had in some way harmed my Anastazia. Rage boiled in my mind but it would not help me and that's when I saw Octavian with a smirk on his face. He said, "She won't keep you around for long and the engagement is probably a big sham. She'll come back to me eventually. I'm just trying to save you the humiliation and embarrassment. Listen to me, leave her." I was provoked quite badly. I had a motto, 'Break bones and then face the consequences.' So, I attacked him with a brute force and just then Anastazia came in between and Octavian caught up in the motion punched her hard. She looked at him icily and said, "I H A T E Y O U!" And then fell down. We took her to the cafeteria and I told her all that had happened, she too confirmed many of my suspicions of the day. We had to do something. We'll figure it eventually. But for now, knowing that we were together was enough. Suddenly, a girl came over and said, "Hey, Ana are you hurt? It must have been hard to escape Octavian when he is in one of his rages. God knows how much you have endured." The girl's voice dripped with fake sympathy. She continued, "And you did not introduce me to your fiancé." I said, "I'm Hamlyn Rosales." She gasped and said, "No wonder Ana left Octavian for you." So, my surname was still famous. Our parents were quite rich and famous but I hadn't expected people to know. She continued, "I'm Julia." So, she was the one Madeline had warned me about. I said, "We'd talk with you later, we have something important to discuss now." Julia left with a scowl on her face. I think she just needed some 'inside information' to spread more gossips and rumors. Well, I wasn't guilty at all for letting her down. Fiancée, the word had an enchanting feeling and Anastazia was looking at me almost as if hiding a smile. Damn, she could always sense what I was thinking. She was a calming presence in my life, the one who could keep me sane. And as much as I loathed Octavian, I pitied him too. After a hectic day, we left for our home. We still lived with our parents but we'd bought a house just for us. A place to call just our own. No one to disturb us as the hours pass, seconds trickle away. They weren't just some moments of our lives but a creation of memories of her last presence. Anastazia said, "I'm heading upstairs. I have some important things to do." So, I said goodbye and went outside to meet up with my friends.
