it was a cold night, 9:05 to be exact and far too cold. the hearing was on, yet she was still cold to the core. and bored. bored of the same news looping on the tv. the urge to watch a movie becoming unbearable. shadyside mall was to close soon. and the movie rental shop was in there. b. daltons, or whatever. heather worked there, someone from school she actually liked. looking over to the clock. she could get the bus. if the bus came on time, she could make it in time before closing. get her movie and maybe stop for a chocolate bar on the way back. making up her mind she leaped from the sofa, hearing her brother in the kitchen. most likely making tea, as mum was most likely at work. slaving over outdated data.

"where are you going?" she heard him shout as she went to get her shoes  the trainers still covered in dry mud from last night. having had hung out with kate, deena and of course simon in the rain. it had been the first time they had actually convinced deena to come out since her breakup with sam. which had been a long time ago now.

"out." is all she replied as her feet slipped into the shoes, cringing at the horrid smell of her shoes. hearing the footsteps running through the house. aimsey. upstairs.

"absloutly not." she heard brandon shout as he entered the living room, to find anya throwing on the red jumper over her and was out of the door.

"anastasia!" she heard brand shout as she sprinted across the lawn.

"where's annie gone?" a little voice behind brandon asked, turning to find the 7 year old hugging a duck teddy to his chest. tired eyes and snotty nose.

"she's okay mikey, don't worry about her. let's get you back to bed for mum." he spoke softly, reaching for michael. anya laughing at her brother as she ran down the street to the bus stop. hearing the bus round the corner, sticking her hand out as it rolled to a stop.

"shadyside mall." she spoke, out of breath, as she climbed on, the driver nodding as he clicked on the option. adding the new number on the bus.

"$2.40." he spoke in a monotone voice, obviously wanting to be done with the day. the ticket printing as she rummaged through her wallet for some change. not wanting to use paper notes. handing the coins the driver rolled his eyes as she did so. smiling as she grabbed the ticket and found a seat. making sure to check her watch every couple of minutes. and within the next 15 minutes the bus was pulling into the bus stop for the mall.

the mall was empty, obviously, being so close to closing time. only a few people dotted around doing last minute shopping. like herself, who simply wanted to watch a movie and not the same old news. it hadn't taken long to find the rental shop. and of course it was empty. minus heather who sat at the front at the cash machine. heather who smiling at her as she entered, popping her gum before looking to clock. she had 10 minutes. 9:20pm. anastasia made her way through the shop. scanning over the movies. coming to a stop as her eyes landed on one of her favourite movies. hocas pocas. smiling as she plucked it from the shelf, making her way back Iver to heather.

"wood, hocas pocas huh? a good one. watching it with loverboy?" she taunted as anya handed it over. growing red faced at her words.

"simon isn't my lover boy. and no, just me." she replied blushing a rather bright red, stumbling over her words.

"i didn't say a name wood. that will be $1.75. 1 week or 2?" heather spoke with a humoureas tone, smirking as she scanned the movie, wanting to laugh at anastasia's dazed face.

"just 1 please." she replied shyly. now not meeting heather's eyes as she handed the money over. hearing the girl chuckle under her breath.

"there you go milady. thank you for shopping at b. daltons." she spoke sliding the movie back across to anya. who hugged it to her chest the second her fingers wrapped around it. before mocking the way she was supposed to greet customers, causing anastasia to stifle a laugh as she did so.

"thanks heather, see you at school tomorrow." she spoke waving as she turned to leave, heather looking to the clock. screaming for joy. she was the last customer.

"attention shoppers, shadyside mall is now closed. the shadyside mall is now closed." the voice on the intercom loomed as she walked through the doors. however, little did anya know that she wouldn't see heather tomorrow. or ever again. alive that it is. little did she know that 10 mintues more and she too could have been laid on the floor of the mall. covered in blood. a body of ryan torres above her.
