"princess, when we were arguing. you said a name, do you remember?" simon asked as they helped anya stand. josh motioning them to follow him downstairs where he usually stayed. carful stepping down the stairs. it looked exactly what you'd expect a teenage boys room to look like. clothes thrown everywhere. random papers stacked, homework or just random shit they didn't know. simon helping her sit on the chair next to him as josh ran towards a wall. full of papers and string. just like the ones her mother had at home. slamming one on the table before them.

"that's her, ruby lane." anastasia mumbled noticing the paper he slammed on the table. linking her fingers with simons. his face growing slightly red. and she grew silent, eyes trained on the news report.

"this is ruby lane. correct. the girl how attacked you." josh annoyed, simon using his free hand to turn the news report to him. so he could get a better look.

"holy shit. it is." he mumbled, finger running over the picture of the girl.

"she sang as she murdered her boyfriend, her friends then she killed herself. slashed her wrists." josh told them, all of them listening in closely.

"why didn't i see this on the news?" kate asked as simon showed her the picture, it was her alright...the one who stood after the bullets shot through her chest.

"1965. because it happened in 1965." anastasia mumbled, trying not to think to hard about it. this whole time time her mother spent trying to uncover the secrets of why she killed herself, what made her do it. and all along, she didn't really die.

"but that's-" sam started, suddenly feeling ill. sick to her stomach.

"30 years ago." josh added. silence rushing through the group. without another word josh stood from the table, heading towards the wall of news letters and evidence. ripping thing of it.

"ruby is one of shadyside's killers. just like skull mask... i mean ryan torres." the image of the guy in her dream hunched over heather. then him lying on the floor, bullet through his dull. blood everywhere. then him sprawled on those floor in the hospital. dead and ripening, but hunting them down..simons thumb running across her hand, drowning drowning attention back in. the boy giving her a small smile before turning back to josh.

"1978, 16 years ago. masked pyscho mass kills campers at-" josh said, placing another news report down. before before was cut of by kate.

"camp nightwing. yeah my mom's sister was there. that screwed my family up for a long time." she mumbled looking down a the news report.

"1950. harry rooker.  local milkman slashed a bunch of house wives."

"1935. humpty dumpy killer. "

"1922. billy barker."

"1904. grifter guts girls."

it wasn't a coincidence. it was a pattern. anastasia always remembered what her dad used to tell her.

"one is an incident, two is a coincidence, three's a pattern, and four is enough for a warrant. sweetheart, that's that's useless piece of information you should always remember." William told the girl as she sat beside him on the floor his paper work nearly sorted infront of him. she had been helping. Well he had given her scrapping scrapping paper and told her back draw, which she happily did.

"okay dada." the 6 year old smiled looking up at her father who only smiled, ruffling her hair causing her to burst out in laughter.

she came back to find simon staring right at her, his hands in her shoulders.

"are you okay? you keep zoning out?" he mumbled, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear.

"it happens in shadyside over and over. notmal people turn into killers."

"like a curse." she mumbled looking down at the drawing. witnessing drawn lines and fucked up features.

"that's the pastor. 1666. he's the first one recorded. he killed kids and cut out their eyes." josh mumbled noticing the look simon gave to the picture. anyas felt sick. without another word sam practically leaped from her seat and ran. anya feeling something dropped over her lips. raising finger, swiping it across her lip and bringing it back to find blood. oh shit. this wasn't good. quickly wiping it onto her thighs before anyone else could see. but kate had already seen her.

"anya, can we talk for a second?" kate asked as she stood up. anastasia nodding slowly and lifting from her seat. finally letting go of simons hand who watched the two leave. anastasia trying not to think of what had happened last time someone pulled her away to talk.

"are you okay?" kate asked the second they wrre out of earshot. knowing if simon heard, he'd throw a fit.

"please kate, i think i've heard that enough today. i'm-" anya started getting ready to go back to the group.

"fine? anya, you're not fine. please." kate spoke, holding the girls hand. watching the tears slowly well in her eyes, but she couldn't tell her. she would think differently of her.

"we can talk about it if you want." kate mumbled, pulling her into a hug the second she noticed the saddening eyes. feeling the gorks tear trickle onto her jumper as she just held her for a few seconds.

"maybe another time, when we aren't being hunted." anastasia laughed slightly trying to pull away from the warm arms of kate when the slap hit her back causing her to smile ever so lightly.

"anastasia." kate warned. her own smile smile her face as she held anastasia. being around anastasia just lifted kates spirits so to see her so sad, hurt. anastasia was always laughing, making jokes or flirting with simon. so her being quiet and shaking in fear was new.

"i know, i'm sorry." she mumbled, resting her head against kayes shoulder. embracing the hug for a few more seconds. she really needed it, not like she'd ever tell her why. because then the questions get asked and she says to much. it overflows. and she says things she's not supposed too. so kate understanding the problem with questions helped, it's like she didn't want answers. it was like she wanted anastasia better.

"what's happening to us anya?" kaye asked quietly pulling away from the grip. whipping away the tears she had shed.

"there's people trying to kill us." anya mumbled as kate brushed a anastasia's hair from her face.

"do you think you'll tell simon?" kate asked out of the blue causing anya to look up at her. she knew too?

"maybe." she mumbled, looking back at simon and josh who were sat talking about ruby lane.
