he pressed record.

"interview with anastasia wood. sunday, october 2nd. 1994. wanna tell me what happened?" so there she sat. alive. infront of officer nick goode being interviewed about what happened. she were alive, but she wished she were not.

"we're hanging out, and needed to pick up sams prescription."

"and the lights went out." josh.

"it was pitch black." deena.

"i couldn't really see anything." sam.

"we ducked behind a counter." josh.

"we hid until it was over." deena.

"so how'd you get that?" he asked pointing at anyas cheek. the girl lifted her hand to the skin. the cut ruby had left still sore. he spotted the glint of a ring. familiar.

"i slipped amd fell into some glass."

"fell in some glass." josh.

"you had to get fifteen stitches in your shoulder?" nick goode asked as he leaned back in his chair, looking at sam.

"i fell in some glass." is all sam replied.

"sam, you look like a ghost. like you just came back from the dead." he asked, hoping to get a little something more.

"shock i guess."

"but those cuts on your thigh, look like stab wounds? anastasia, you can tell me anything?" officer goode asked again. he was starting to get irrated. every single one of them had said teh saething. nothing more. nothing less. but whatever happened changed them. the girl sitting before him wasn't the same fjrey girl that had spat at him a couple nights ago at the car crash.

"sharp glass." is all she spoke and he hummed.

"anastasia, i'll tell you what the facts tell me. the junkies.."

"kate and simon?" deena.

"they weren't junkies." josh.

"they are my friends."

"they are to blame for everything. that feels too easy too me." goode asked hiding the flicker of a smirk as he watched the lights in anyas eyes light up.

"simon is my boyfriend and kates my best friend. leave them out of this." she spat leaning forward before before leaning back in pain. hissing slightly.

"that's the story this department will go with, unless you can help me see it differently." he spoke with a certain proud tone, causing her brow to raise at hi. what the fuck was he proud of. that he solved the case. bullshit.

"another shadyside tragedy. an underprivileged overachiever with  right prospect." deena spoke, she held no emotion. no sadness. no anger. nothing. empty.

"a boy who did everything in his power to love and support his family. all by himself. working days and nights, double shifts just to support them." anya spoke highly of simon, as usual. she always had. and always will. because he's simon. her best friend. her first friend in shadyside.

"both succumbing to the quick cash of drugs. fits the narrative, right? nice and neat." deena asked. and he frowned. leaning forwards.

"you came here for my help. i should have listened to you, im sorry. well im listening now anastasia. please, just talk. say anything. everything." he practically begged. he needed a story. so she leaned forwards. motioning him yo lend lend more till hrr lips were near his ear.

"shove your help up your arse." she murdered and he leaned back.

"do you want your friends going down for this?"

"no. but they're dead. he's dead. just some more shadyside teenagers gone mad, right?" she spoke and he pressed end. fair enough. and deena, sam and josh all waited by goodes desk. waiting for anya. the janitor from the mall sat behind them in handcuffs.

"urkel. help me out." he asked whistling for josh, darning a glare from deena. making josh look away as he rattled the handcuffs.

"oh okay, so I'm a bad guy because I'm in here. then that makes you a bad guy too little man."

"leave him alone." sam spat and deena smiled lightly. but josh still reached forward. double checking for cameras as he reached for a paper clip. coughing as he threw the paper clip at teh ground at his feet. he smiled as he put his foot over it. when anya spoke.

"come one." sam, deena and josh raised from their seats. making tegur qay over when the guy who asked for help held out his hands for josh. then he blamed the paper in his hands. a card of kinds. a business card.

"i owe you." and he quickly pocketed it as he walked join anya, sam and deena.

"if anything comes to you, call me." he leaned down to whisper in anyas war, causing the girl to shiver slightly. an act deena didn't enjoy seeing. somwthing was wrong with that.

"prodigal son returns."

"man you ain't my family." he spat but nick oy smiled as he passed him. sam, deena walking after josh and anya holding hands until they spotted sams mother.

"sam! samantha!" she exclaimed as she stormed forwards, grabbing her daughters arm and pulling her away from deena.

"so i guess i'll see you tomorrow?" deena asked as anya smiled throwing her arm over josh. sa loking at her mother then back to deena before sighing.

"no." and deenas face fell. as sams mother smiled. good. but sam was already walking over to deena.

"see you tonight." she added before leaning to press her lips to deenas. now it was time for deena to smile and sams mother to frown. before they left.

"you coming round too anya?" jpsh asked, he didn't wanna be alone.

"yeah, don't really wanna be alone right now." and neither did she.

"i know. i miss them too. well be alright though right. i mean it'll suck because it's simon and kate. but we can still live on for them."

"yeah." she spoke looking down at her hands, now adored in simons rings which was now cleaned and shiny. she had asked for them and simons mum andy had let her. knowing there had been something going on between her son and his best friend. mothers instinct so she guessed they didn't realise until too late.

"i'll hang with josh too, so you can have some alone tiem with sam." she movked and josh laughed.

"shut up!" deean spat as she elbowed anya. causing the girl to smile. but not laugh, she couldn't laughter. it was like simon had took half of anastasia with him.
