So sorry for the late post! I left my computer at my mom's over the weekend and yesterday when I had a chance to edit, I was too tired mentally. But I got it done today! I hope you'll enjoy  the action here. Next chapter's got some art ;)

Part of the forest had burned away, creating a perfect trail for Pathfinder to follow. North. As she flew, with smouldering trees on either side of her, she became worried about the entire rainforest burning. Flames hungrily ate at anything they could reach and the steadily advanced, the path widening.

At this rate, she thought, there won't be any rainforest left...

The path of destruction curved west. As Pathfinder continued, she began to hear dragon screams again. It must be another village!

Sure enough, larger flames and dark smoke flashed through the trees. Pathfinder emerged from the trail to a chaotic scene, just she had seen at the other village.

A couple of trees were groaning and leaning, ready to fall, and hundreds of white or pale green dragons were flying through the air in a panic. Some were jumping out of flaming huts that hung from branches.

If Pathfinder looked straight ahead, she could see clear sky where the trail burned by The Blue Comet continued. If her vision was true – and it was – then it should eventually stop where the dragon laid down to rest, struck down by Jaguar's sleeping dart.

When I find it, she vowed, I'll put an end to its terror.

     The flames around her flared.

But she was indecisive. Hovering at the edge of the village, she could fly over or through. Either way, to reach The Blue Comet, she would have to leave this village to burn.

Do I sacrifice a village of RainWings for the future peace of Pyrrhia, possibly saving countless lives, or do I stay and help these dragons now, leaving The Blue Comet time to escape?

Another thought came. How long will it stay asleep for? she wondered.

While she was thinking, the village was burning.

A dragon whose wings were on fire fell from a higher branch as it attempted to fly away. Pathfinder collected her wings to dive, reaching out for them. The RainWing did the same, burned talons mere clawlengths apart from hers. Pathfinder willed herself to fall faster, tucking her wings in further and she managed to grab them just moments before they fell to the forest floor. She flared her wings.

The RainWing screamed as their arms were wrenched from their sockets. The bones popped and snapped and Pathfinder nearly dropped them. She only managed to cushion their fall a little. The two dragons crashed to the ground.

She landed on top of the RainWing. Pathfinder scrambled off as quickly as she could, but when she looked down she cried in horror. The RainWing, limp and shivering, lay on her back in an awkward position. Her wings were like charred sticks with no more skin stretched between them. The fire was eating at the rest of her body.

"I'm going to try to put it out!" Pathfinder shouted over the roar of the flames around them. She reached forward with her talons, panicking, trying to figure out how. Stamp it out? That'll hurt her more!

The RainWing heaved a sob. "...just leave me... leave me... save the eggs..."

Pathfinder wanted to protest, but at the mention of eggs, her heart dropped. "Eggs?"
