Sorry for the late post! The Christmas week and weekend have been busy for me with both work and family time so I have to update a little later.

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas, and here's to the New Year!

I also have some news concerning my future fics. The next trilogy (which is set in Pantala) will take some time to write as I want to plan all three books before I begin (at least the first book, I have a good idea of where I'm going). I've started planning the first book and I want to post art while I work on it so you'll get to meet the new tribes and how I've changed the world! I also want to say that this week I'll try to post more art (I finished the 10-tribe Punnet Square) so keep an eye out!

Without further adieu, here is C. 17! I hope you enjoy it, because as you can tell by the title of the part things are starting to go down! <3

Part Three: Falling to the Ground

- ❈ -

He kept his breathing steady and even to match his scales to the evening sky around him. Jaguar had flown as far as he could in the past day, following the smell of smoke, but so far had only seen burnt islands void of any life. The Blue Comet was always out of reach.

Could it have moved on? he thought, his rage flaring in response. No – it can't have, I haven't gotten my talons on it yet.

The irrational – but possibly true – fear ate away at him as he flew over the azure waters. Jaguar kept a sharp eye out, scanning for any hints of The Blue Comet... birds flying away in a panic, dragons screaming in the distance, lights on the horizon... so far, there had been nothing.

When the sun was flaring red and dipping low to kiss the water, Jaguar was in sight of two islands, but he was not looking at them. He kept rotating his head, scanning the sky for any signs of changing light. The sky around the sun was gold and red, the clouds above him pink, and beyond the sunset colours were changing to the blues of the night – it would be easier to spot the Comet in the darkness.

But Jaguar was getting tired. He had barely slept last night, getting up to chase the tail of the Comet as soon as he became restless. If he lost the trail of the Comet now, he would lose more than a chance for revenge, and he would never forgive himself.

He watched the sun as it began to disappear. So much for splitting up and covering more ground, he thought miserably.

That was when something peculiar happened. The sun expanded and split into two, one half being yellow and the other becoming blue. Jaguar lifted his talons to shield his eyes, but his heart was already pounding. The Blue Comet!!!

Jaguar pumped his wings to intercept the dragon. He had to fight to keep his scales calm and match his environment. He wanted to attack it with surprise and not give it a chance to fight back. Due to his excitement, he could almost taste the venom in his mouth.

The Blue Comet came closer. Jaguar was so close to it, he could see the way its wings fanned the flames, making it look like a living breathing fireball. It was fully wreathed, the fire trailing behind exactly like a comet's tail.

He drew all his strength, preparing to die, gathering his venom in his fangs. Jaguar flared his wings and prepared to shoot, but the Comet's heat burned him. He had to be close to make the most of his venom, but that also meant he was more than in range for the heat to hit him. Unable to withstand its burning presence, Jaguar's wings reacted on their own and he lost altitude.
