Friday rolled around and you were both nervous and excited, so was your mother. She bought you a new Kimono for the occasion, a lovely white one with a cherry blossom print, she fussed over your hair putting it up into a stylish bun and did your make up for you.

This time she insisted on meeting Kenma before you went off to the beach for the festival, so she took you to Kenma's house to pick him up before driving you both there.

You got out of the car and smoothed down your outfit before walking over to Kenma's front door and ringing the bell. You heard the car door on the driver's side close indicating your mother had also gotten out of the car to greet your date. You cringed a little and looked over at her, trying to indicate without words to please not embarrass you. She just smiled and shooed you with her fingers to say, "don't be silly of course I won't".

The door opened and Kenma's father answered. You weren't quite prepared to meet his parents for the first time too. But you guessed it was only fair. He was a fairly tall man with well groomed hair, the picture of your typical businessman.

You bowed deeply and introduced yourself. "Hello Sir, my name is Y/N L/N. It's very nice to meet you."

He nodded his head to you and called for his wife, who came through from the next room dragging Kenma with her as she fussed with his hair. "I do wish you'd get it cut, and I don't know why you bothered to dye it if you're not going to keep on top of it."

She was a small woman now even shorter than her son, she had long black hair and the same golden eyes as Kenma. She stepped forward to greet you with a smile on her face.

"L/N, it's so lovely to finally meet you. Sorry we're always working on a weekend and haven't been able to have you over for dinner yet. Kenma's told us all about you of course."

You blushed at the thought of Kenma talking about you, and Kenma looked equally embarrassed stood behind his parents.

"Please call me Y/N, and this is my mother M/N." Your mum couldn't help herself she'd left the side of the car and joined you at the door.

His parents and your mum exchanged pleasantries and you and Kenma waited patiently behind them. Eventually Kenma tapped his mum on the shoulder so he could get past her and out of the house.

He was also wearing a Kimono, his was grey with light and dark patches and a red belt. You couldn't help thinking how handsome he looked in it. He blushed as he took in what you were wearing and your freshly done makeup as he moved to stand next to you.

"You look really pretty." He leaned over and whispered in your ear so his parents couldn't hear. The warmth of his breath against your skin gave you goosebumps and you blushed at his compliment.

"Th-thanks, you too." You stuttered going pink.

Your mum said goodbye to the Kozume's and promised to get you to the festival in one piece, you bowed to his parents again saying goodbye too and the three of you got in the car. You sat in the back with Kenma and the two of you sat in a nice silence until your mum spoke up.

She asked him the usual questions, similar to what she'd asked Kuroo at dinner. Nothing too intrusive, just the typical; How was he finding school? How was Volleyball practice? What else did he like to do?

Kenma answered politely but kept his replies short as you'd expected and eventually your mum ran out of questions and went quiet. You relaxed a bit at this point and started staring out of the window to see if you were nearly there.

That was until you felt Kenma's hand brush against yours. You looked down at your hand and his next to it. His fingers were positioned as if he was going to hold your hand but had stopped midway through the act. You looked up at him, he was staring intently out of the window too as if deliberately not meeting your eyes.
