Sun shines through narrowly open curtains and straight into the waking anthro's eye. He grimances then looks down at the small human in his arms. Just as he'd thought, Charlie wanted to see how cuddles with him were. He wasn't complaining. He smiles softly and purrs at the comfort of her touch. There's a giggle as crystal blue eyes look up to him, "Good morning to you too." Marcus feels his cheeks heat up and his ears pin back, "Uh... yeah. Mornin'."
The beast sits up and yawns before getting out of bed. He was used to a strict regime and looking at the clock, realizes he's already way off of what he's been used to. No wonder he feels foreign in his own space. There's shifting on his bed as Charlie starts to get up as well, "I may have to sleep over more. Very fluffy." This earns a chuckle from Marcus who starts sifting through his clothes in search of something that may still fit. The mutation made him far too broad for most of his shirts but he did manage to find what used to be a quite baggy hoodie and basketball shorts that he'd wait to change into since he has company at the moment. He turns in the hoodie and smiles. Charlie giggles, "Damn dude and I was wondering if it'd ever fit."
It's some merch from some internet person he'd fanned over in highschool. Charlie bought it for his birthday a year ago snd they'd joke about him growing into it.
Marcus smiles, "Well I grew a little over the months." They share a laugh before there's a knock at the door. The door cracks open and his mother pops her smiling face into the room, "I thought I heard you kids. I made breakfast when you're ready." The two young people look at eachother before heading to eat.
After breakfast, Charlie goes home to get ready for work and Marcus decides to go for a solo exploration after changing. Perhaps a little run. He smiles at the idea of a run somewhere that wasn't an inclosed gymnasium.
He steps outside and relishes in the cool, fall air. He starts with a soft jog, quickly finding himself on all fours. He smiles as the wind runs through his fur. It's a new and welcome feeling. All good things must come to an end though as he gets tired and sees too many people around to sprint like he had been. Town was a bit busier today and he visits a couple stores in curiosity. Marcus walks into a café and sniffs the air with a smile. He doesn't particularly like coffee and since the mutation he's allergic but he's always enjoyed the smell. He walks to the counter, the young man at the counter smiles cautiously, "Hello uh... may I take your order?" Marcus hums, voice rumbling in his chest as he looks over her head to the menu board, "I'd like one of those... pineapple, coconut smoothies please? Small?" He looks at him with an unsure gaze that seems to ease his caution. The employee nods and charges him. Marcus digs in his pocket for the spare change he'd pulled out from under his mattress. He used to keep his allowance there and forgot it when he moved off to college but always figured it'd come in handy and be safe there. He pays the boy then goes to a small bench to wait. There were a few other people. One person seemed to me staring, making him feel uncomfortable. His name is called and he walks over, thanking the employee before glancing in the direction of the stare.
It's a young woman on a laptop. Her dark hair is pulled into a messy bun, pencil stuck through it to hold it up. Her skin is the color of the moca latte she has beside her. Her large, black framed classes sit delicately on a thin nose and compliment her slightly angular features. She's really pretty but he's sure she's just staring cause he's a freak. It's weird though. He's caught her but she continues to stare. Like she's studying him. Waiting for him to do something. Weirded out, he pins his ears back with unease and leaves the café.
He goes home, sipping on his smoothie. He was addicted to those things before the mutation. He steps inside, calling to his mom. She's probably at work by now too though. He'd forgotten everyone's schedules by now. He hums and walks around the house, exploring the old place.
Some time later, there's a knock on the door. Marcus hums and opens the door. His heart stops, "Ana... what brings you here?" His ex fiancé stands before him nervously. He lets her into the home, steeling his heart. She's clearly moved on. It's best he at least appear to be doing the same. The woman tucks her hair behind her ear, "I... I thought you may want to talk about... everything." Marcus frowns and follows her to the livingroom, "What's there to talk about?" She gives the tiger a look he knows well and he shrugs, "Seriously. There's nothing to talk about. You've moved on. I should of known better when it happened. I'm just glad you seem happy." He forces a smile and so does she, taking a seat, "Yes. Deric is such a good man." Marcus hums. So that was his name huh? He looks at her, "It didn't take long did it. I wasn't gone but three or four months." She suddenly looks more nervous, "Yeah..." awkward silence consumes them for what feels like forever before Ana sighs, "I'm sorry... I should go..." she stands and goes to leave. Marcus stands, "Ok. I wish you two the best of luck. Honestly." Ana flashes a ghost of a smile before leaving the anthro alone.
Marcus feels his heart break. Seems like a late response but he hadn't stopped to think about everything yet. It's finally settled in and he's hurt. Even so, he can't seem to be angry with her. He may be the same person but he's no longer the same man she dated and promised herself to a year ago. He sighs, tears threatening to pour over as he goes to the bathroom to shower off all the sweat from his run. After that, he curls up in his bed, silently crying himself into a nap.
