A loud banging against metal startles Marcus from his sleep, "Wakey Wakey newbie! It's time for chow." Rex's voice was full of amusement making the tiger feel a tad embarrassed. He hadn't meant to fall asleep and now he feels lethargic. A yawn escapes as he stands and wanders to the door, opening it as he rubs the sleep from his eyes. His teammate stands with a smirk arms folded across his chest, "Dude, y'er lucky I showed up. It's like... a few minutes to meetin' time. Ya wouldn't wanna get in trouble on y'er first day."
The two make their way to the common room where everyone has already gathered. Kelly chuckles at his disheveled appearance, "Did you fall asleep kitty?" Marcus feels his cheeks warm, looking down to his now wrinkled and half-tucked dress shirt. He clears his throat and tries to straighten up the mess, "Wasn't on purpose." Boris rolls his eyes and checks the silver watch around his wrist with a tisk, "We need to head out front. King should be pulling up soon enough." He turns on his heel and starts walking. The remaining teammates look among themselves before following.
The ride was quiet aside from Kelly and Rex's mild chatter about the game they had been playing earlier in the evening. Marcus smiles and takes the time to observe them all. He almost feels at home and that was a comfort to him.
The restaurant looked a far fancier than Marcus had expected. They left the van at the curb for a human to park. The feline feels a bit out of place now, glad he had dressed up today but unsure how to act in this situation. He'd never been somewhere like this but looking to his collages it seems they've done this a few times. He decides to follow their lead, hanging in the back and trying to copy Boris' confident posture. The buck seemed to take notice and smirks back at him, ear flicking as he steadies his gaze ahead once again. Marcus feels his face flush once more and shrink in stature.
They're lead to a far corner table away from most other guests and each Anthro takes a seat next to someone he wasn't expecting to see again, Alexis Connor. He stares a moment before realizing the last seat was between said woman and Kelly. He gulps lightly and takes a seat, "Good evening Miss Connor. So... You're the final member?" The human nods, sparing a indifferent glance his way, "I am your human liaison. I handle our contracts and any press I need to address." She shoots a glare toward Rex who snickers, "It was jus' a lill measuring issue missy." Alexis lets out a lightly frustrated sigh as she picks up the menu.
"Party for da newbie!" Rex exclaims then notices their leader's hard glare, "Party for da newbie." he whisper-yells. Kelly and Marcus chuckle then look at each other. Marcus smiles warmly before looking to the menu, tail swaying gently behind him in thought. He was a bit nervous about ordering. Of course the prices were above anything he'd even dream of having to pay but that wasn't what bothered him. He was going to have to eat meat in front of a bunny and deer. He still feels weird eating in front of others and this felt much stranger. Alexis seems to sense his unease, "Pick what you like Marcus. No limits. No judgment" He hums to himself, deciding it's best to not think too much. All he can do is not tear into the meat like a monster.
Marcus stares at Boris in disbelief as the buck daintily feeds himself each morsal of food. A grilled chicken salad... That's that the deer had ordered and is now munching down on the savory meat like it's completely normal. Their eyes locked and Marcus looks down to his steak, a bit embarrassed for what seems the millionth time. His ear flicks nervously as he carefully cuts into his meal. Guess it shouldn't be too surprising. He does seem the kind of guy to have some darker side or something. There has to be a reason the team is called The Missfits after all. Marcus continues to try and reason with himself throughout dinner only taking breaks to answer brief questions.
The ride was more talkative, Rex getting everyone to talk a bit about how different life has become since the mutation. Boris and Tomas were pretty tight lipped on their lives before but Rex jabbered on for some time about himself. By the end of the ride, even Boris and Alexis were joining in the less serious conversations.
The night comes to a close as each Missfit wanders to their rooms with full bellies and happy hearts. Marcus changes into some sweatpants before laying on his bed with a purr. Today was more than a bit surprising. A welcome surprise fore sure.
