"Look, i'm calling it off. Alright? Peterkin said if Jo and I stay out of the marsh, she'll help us with DCS." My brother turned around to face the crew.

"And you believed her?" JJ sat on a round table. "An actual cop, John B. You believed a cop."

"All we gotta do is stay out of the marsh for a couple days, and she'll help us out. And it doesn't help that your ass was the one shooting a gun." John B remarked back at JJ.

"You know what I should have done? I should've just let Topper drown your ass." He threw a rock into the water.

"Okay enough! JJ drop it." I butted in.

He made his way closer to the group. "They always win, don't they, man? Kooks versus pogues. They always, always win!" JJ shouted as he hit the hung tetherball.

JJ went on and on about why he knew Pope and Kie wouldn't wanna go down to the marsh.

"I mean seriously Jo, you don't wanna know what money could be out there for us? You've dreamed of having a fancy house like a kook since we were young!" He threw his arms arounds.

I looked up at him as he tried to convince me. My brother started walking away.

"I don't wanna talk about it." John B pushed JJ.

"John B to listen to me. I have a plan. You got the key to Cameron's big boat, right? There's scuba gear inside there. We borrow that, and then go down to the wreck this afternoon, and that is what's gonna save you,man. You don't see rich kids going into foster care, do you?" JJ held onto his shoulders as he convinced him.

Kie went home as well as Pope while JJ and I waited at the chateau for my brother to arrive back.

"Jo, are you really that uneasy that this plan will work? I mean think about it, when we get the money you can have all you have ever wanted!" JJ smiled as he leaned against the counter holding a beer.

I sighed as I sat on the couch with my eyes closed but raising my head as I heard him speak. "It's not that I don't want to find the money. Do you not know what happens to foster kids who have siblings? They usually get separated, John B is all I have left JJ. He is my only family member who actually cares about me. Why would I want to be separated and end up getting taken away by DCS?"

JJ shook his head as he made his way to sit in front of me on the couch. "They would never separate you two. If this Peterkin cop is on your side, she won't let them separate you from John B. I will do everything to protect you from DCS,okay?" He grabbed my face into his hands.
