Elliot woke up, head pounding, as she took in her surroundings. It was just a basement. The only thing in it out of places was a table with at least 100 different "tools". Knives, power drills, a few guns, a God damn chainsaw, a small pile of nails, and a hammer. She tried to stand only to find she was tied to a chair. She couldn't remember how she got here, but she did remember. . . Habit didn't have red eyes but Lazarus did. She pulled the switchblade from her back pocket and cut the ropes. Elliot then heard footsteps coming down the stairs, hid the switchblade in her sleeve, held the ropes so they looked like they were still tied, then pretended to still be unconscious.
Lazarus walked down the basement stairs, humming to himself as he played with the dog tag necklace that hung around his neck.
"you can open your eyes, I know you're awake, love" he said smiling to himself. Elliot sat, hanging her head "giving up already, pumpkin?" Lazarus squatted down in front of her "Really I don't wanna hurt you but you betrayed me,"
"You know damn well what you did," Elliot spat back "I'm so sick of being around you,"
"So that's what this is abo-" Lazarus was cut off by Elliot punching him in the face, causing him to fall back into the table. He tried to grab hold of her but the fold-out table collapsed under him.
Elliot sprinted up the stairs. She ran through the house shoving furniture as she passed them. She heard Lazarus's steps clunking up the basement stair and she knew he wasn't far behind. She tore out of the house and ran into the woods. After a while, her lungs burned and once she could no longer see or hear Lazarus she slowed to catch her breath.
She had been walking for about an hour now. Then she stopped and realized it was too quiet. Elliot couldn't hear the crunching of snow or her breathing or the wind. Then she heard something that terrified her, a soft, static buzzing. She panicked and began running but it only got louder. She turned in the opposite direction to get away from the sound of the noise but it only seemed closer no matter which direction she ran. She then saw him. He was tall and slim, his black suit made him almost look like one of the trees, and he had no face, the two of them knew each other very well. He cocked his head to the side slightly and she felt his nonexistent eyes burrowing into her soul. Her fear turned to rage as she glared back and began yelling at him.
"WHY ARE YOU HERE? THERE'S NOTHING FOR YOU TO RUIN! I HAVE NOTHING! NOTHING BECAUSE OF YOU! YOU FUCKED ME UP FOREVER" She took a few steps closer feeling dizzier as she stepped. She felt her nose begin to bleed. She began to run at him but only made it five paces before collapsing to her knees, coughing, and spitting up blood.
"My child," said a voice in her head he could only assume was his "you have grown arrogant and blind. Do not blame me for your choices"
The world spun as she saw a shorter figure making its way over. She collapsed in the snow as the blood from her nose stained the white snow.
"Shit" she heard the figure say and made out Habit's face before passing out.
