Training Ground

Devon walked behind Eleanor wearing a soldier's uniform. He was expecting her to be wearing a dress with all the accessories. If he heard it right, she is the niece of the King. They saw youngsters swinging swords and some are having hand combat. "Miss Eleanor, my apologies for asking. What are we doing here?", Devon stopped walking. "I will just be saying a little farewell", Eleanor smiled.

Devon was asked to stay a little far from the platform prepared for Eleanor. He watches her make some speech. He guessed that she was making a encouragement or something of that matter. "Mr. Devon", a man wearing a different uniform stood beside him. "Yes, Sir?", Devon felt an oozing aura of dominance from the person. It was almost like a King. "I am Eleanor's father, Keanne. She explained glimpse of the work she is about to take. It doesn't ring well in my ears. I can hear danger from her stories", Keanne crossed his arms. Devon gulped and just nodded. "But I'm no different. If this is something she would choose on her own, I will not prohibit her. Can you just promise me one thing?", Keanne looked into the man's eyes.

Please help her forgive herself.

Marie nodded and smiled after hearing the news from the golem connected to the phone. "Kanda, they said that Eleanor regained her innocence. This time, she seems to be working well with her synchronization", Marie informed. "Hmm? Who is this Eleanor?", Tiedol asked. "She's an exorcist that Kanda met in Wales", Marie ended the call.

"Oh, I see. How is she? Now we have more accommodators", Tiedol clapped. "How could someone like her be an accommodator? For some reason, she feels just like that beansprout", Kanda clicked his tongue. "Why are you so irritated?", Tiedol noticed a certain wariness coming from Kanda. The long haired man bit his lip and marched away from the two.

"That's the exorcist who wasn't able to synchronize well last time. She will be placed under the supervision of Marshal Squalo", Tiedol informed. "That's-", Marie sweatdropped. Marshal Squalo has a reputation of being a ruthless man. Marshall Cross takes the first spot but being under the bloodthirsty marshal seemed to a mismatch for Eleanor.

Eleanor arrived with Devon. They were met in the town circle. Group of finders were pleased to meet Eleanor for the first time. "She looks beautiful. How blessed are we!", they cheered. "They had been assigned to Marshal Squalo", Devon explained. "They are all bunch of mad men. We are humans as well. They don't usually cooperate with us", they whined. Eleanor nervously laughed. She wondered what will happen in this mission.

She looked around and was amazed with the silk worn by women. She also envy them for wearing light clothes. For her uniform, Johnny created a new design for her. It was a dress with ruffles making her remember how her mother dressed herself back in the palace. She tied her hair and wondered why there was silence. "Are you really an exorcist? Have I not slept well? I believe I am seeing a goddess", one of them commented. Eleanor sighed and flicked his forehead. "Keep yourself guarded", Eleanor reminded. "STRIKE!!!", they shouted. "You guys are so embarrassing", Devon face-palmed.

Inn

Eleanor entered and evaded a chair that was slammed on the wall. "That was close", she sighed. "Why are there not enough demons here?!", he shouted. Eleanor peeked at the longue and saw three exorcist with someone wearing a different uniform.

"Oh. Marshal, the new exorcist is here", Reed stood. "A girl?", Suman raised his eyebrow. She looked smaller and frailer than Lenalee. "You shouldn't have come", Squalo turned her head and saw the lady. "I told Claud that she should be taking care of weaklings like you", Squalo clicked his tongue. "Pleased to meet you, Marshal Squalo", Eleanor bowed. The marshal just ignored her and continued eating meat.

"What's your weapon?", Chalker invited her to sit with them. Eleanor felt hesitant to say it. "Let's see how useless your weapon is", Squalo got bored and decided to engage with the conversation. Eleanor took that as an order and activated Rowan. They were all frozen to see such grimly looking weapon. "Amazing!", Squalo laughed. "Let me see you swing it like a real grim reaper!", Squalo had high hopes. "I hope not to disappoint you", Eleanor reverted it back.

Eleanor's Room

Hatred. Anger. Pain.

She woke up and looked at the mirror. Her eyes are bleeding again. She took some cloth and wiped it. She looked at the full moon and sat at the window for a while. "Can't sleep?", she heard a familiar voice. She looked up and saw Suman sitting at the window as well. "I had plenty during our journey here", Eleanor answered. "You're just a brat. What are you doing here?", Suman avoided staring at her so he just kept his eyes on the moon.

"There is an exorcist younger than me", Eleanor informed. "You look so tired, Sir Suman", Eleanor noticed. "Day in and out, this place is attack by demons", Suman sighed. "That must be tough", Eleanor held on her arm. "You're also a parasitic type", Eleanor noticed his hand. "Did you enter the Order voluntarily?", Suman furrowed his brow. "I didn't but I eventually did", Eleanor shrugged. "Don't lump me together with those righteous idiots. Its not like I'm doing this for the betterment of this world. I hated being an exorcist", Suman said his thoughts.

Hatred.

"What made you say it?", Eleanor leaned on the wall. "Because of the Order, I will no longer see them", Suman clenched his fist. "To quench this anger, I have to pound those demons to dust", Suman bit his lip.

Anger.

"Are you talking about your daughter and your wife?", Eleanor asked. "How did you know?", Suman was suspicious. "You have a pendant. Is that where you keep their photo? I had been acquainted with soldiers for a long time", Eleanor reached her hand towards the moon. "The Order will not allow me to go back even just for once. It is for their safety and for the privacy of the organization", Suman's voice turned shaky.

Pain.

"Sir Suman. Four demons on the town circle", Eleanor informed and drew her scythe from her arm. Suman also activated his and had the instinct to trust the lady. They both jumped out from the window.

Town Circle

The demons started attacking people. Eleanor slashed the level 1's. Suman also used his innocence to blow the level 2 away. For some reason, the number of level 1 and level 2 increased. "I need to call Marshal Squalo", Eleanor prepared to use his golem. "The Marshall already went to the next mission. He doesn't like staying in one place", Suman grunted as he was thrown in a nearby building.

Eleanor saw finders using the barriers to capture the other level 1. Reed and Chalker woke up due to the tremor. "Why are there so many here?", Reed assisted the two. "Innocence?", Eleanor had a hunch. "The Marshall already took it with him", Chalker said while helping Suman to stand. "This could last until morning. That's for the Marshall hoping to see more demons. Why isn't he here now?", Reed sighed.

A level 2 with the ability to split himself targeted Eleanor since she looked weak. After just a second, he felt his head falling to the ground. Suman wasn't sure of what happened but he knew Eleanor isn't inexperienced when it come to battle. "Reed, Chalker, we need to evacuate the people. Eleanor and I will be holding these demons", Suman instructed. "We will be helping as well", Devon and the finders followed the two.

Suman watches Eleanor from his peripheral vision. How could she acquaint herself so easily with her weapon? He remembered not being able to control his innocence at first. They were separated by an explosion. Suman was worried about the lady. Even if he hates the Order, she was the first person who listened to his anger, hatred, and pain.

After the smoke die down, he felt something dripping on his face. It wasn't raining. It was blood.

The sun started to rise. The blood from the demons evaporated. Eleanor looked at Suman who felt a tint of fear. "I'm glad you're alright", she said then knelt on the ground. Her weapon reverted back to her arm. Her skin turned pale. "I'll ask a finder to assist you. Don't move", Suman searched for anyone who is available.

Chapter end.
