XIII: Black Silk
Third POV
Izuku sat upright on his knees, staring down at his hand that rested on his lap, "With everything that's happening, I feel like it'd be for the best."
Katsuki remained silent, moving closer to the green-haired boy who refused to let him touch him, "No, please don't..."
The sound of crumbling echoed in Katsuki's ears, the simple idea of them not being together hurt. "Why? Why are you trying to leave again?"
At that moment he watched Izuku's body tremble, light gasps leaving his mouth as he attempted to control his shaky breathing.
His voice was firm, even in its gentility and what was said couldn't have been denied,
"Whoever is doing this obviously doesn't want me around you or this clan; just look at what happened to Hagakure's wedding." Izuku started, "I love you more than you could ever understand but still..."
"I should've stopped trying to find out about you! but I didn't and now I've lost the only person that's truly loved me in a long time, and at this rate, I'm going to lose my own life if I keep going!"
He balled his hands into weak fists, "It feels like a part of me just died the minute she got lowered onto the ground and honestly, it seems as though I'm going to end up in heartbreak and in tears no matter what I do."
"So please let me go before things become worse." Finally lifting his head to show Katsuki his eyes that regained their sparkle but also how much pain he'd been in.
If it meant that much to leave, who would Katsuki be to deny Izuku of one thing? One thing that could possibly end his sorrow.
But he couldn't. Katsuki couldn't let him leave.
"I can't do that, I'm sorry." Katsuki responded, grabbing Izuku into an inescapable hug, "I made a commitment and I intend to keep it, even while in death."
Izuku struggled to wriggle himself out of Katsuki's warm grasp but to no such luck, thumping his light fists into the man's chest, pleading him to stop, "STOP- PLEASE JUST LET ME GO."
The small amount of energy he'd built up while unconscious had been over-exerted, feeling his limbs get weak, "I don't care about a promise we've might've made, so please..."
Thrusting Izuku's head to be buried into his neck, Katsuki took a profound and lengthy sigh, "I lied on your mother's birthday; we didn't just talk; she went on about how she'd have every right to take you away and see to it that you'd never get involved with this lifestyle or someone like me."
"And even though it hurt to think about, I agreed with her."
"H-huh.?" Izuku whimpered out, breathy pauses suspending him, "You're saying s-she wasn't happy with me being here..?"
A hand slipped underneath his shirt, rubbing his bare back soothingly, "She's your mom, every time you step out of your home she worries for your life. So realizing you'd been caught up in mafia left her terrified." Katsuki admitted.
"But she didn't tell you to stop, because she knew you wouldn't listen. She said that all she wanted was to see you happy, and that every time you looked back at me or talked to me you seemed so elated and she didn't want to take that away from you."
Katsuki laid his hand on top of Izuku's soft yet unruly curls, "I guaranteed on my life, and on this clan that I'd keep you safe and kill anyone who tries to interfere with it."
Pulling Izuku back so they could make eye contact, "Don't make me break that promise, Izuku."
He hiccuped, the last moments of outcries left his mouth as he rested on Katsuki's chest, enabling himself to grieve for a final time.
He supposed...
Now that he'd figured out everything it'd be like a slap to Inko's face for her intentions and her death- only seeking out prosperity for her son. He wouldn't cry any more after this since he knew how much his mom hated to see him upset.
This time when he tried to pull back from Katsuki the blond allowed it. Merely watching Izuku lay back down on his side, holding Katsuki's warm hand, "...Could you stay, just until I fall asleep?" He quietly requested, "I don't feel like being alone right now."
The blond nodded, moving over so he could lay on the bed as well, the sounds of shuffling were heard when Izuku eventually had the blanket over his body, the warm scent sugar-filled his nasal passages when he came closer to Katsuki.
A hand running past his curls. Deep, soothing hums filled his ears; Izuku finally being at peace, his soon-to-be slumber being well deserved after a few sleepless nights.
The hums stopped once Katsuki's had realized Izuku was finally out for that afternoon. looking ever so delicate with his lips parted and his chin being flushed by a pale pink color.
The room was quiet and calm. But after everything, this simply made Katsuki's conviction even stronger tenfold.
Whoever did this would pay.
Just as his own eyes would close, his pocket began to vibrate, pulling out a black cellular device to Kirishima as the caller ID.
Pressing the accept button, he held the phone close to his ear, not even getting an opportunity to say hello before Kirishima spoke.
"Bakugo, You need to return to base right now, there's something you need to know!"
With the level of urgency in his voice, Katsuki could tell that it had to be of utmost importance regarding what had been happening lately.
"Give me 10'," Katsuki ordered before hanging up and slowly beginning to shuffle out of bed. Sparing one last glance at the boy who didn't look to be waking up anytime soon before making his departure.
They'd be caught on soon.
With stride and surging fury in his thunderous footsteps, one could only hope to the gods that they'd be saved.
