Chapter 13- Old Friends and Enemies

           Zayn's P. O. V.

    "Avery!" Justin exlaims, pulling the smaller girl into a tight embrace. After they pull away, Justin speaks up. "So, why exactly did you guys come to my house at," He pauses glancing at his watch, "11:30 at night?" He finshes. "You know the Orangewood Orphanage, right?" I ask and he nods in response. "Well, my sworn enemy is attacking the orphanage and my best friends Tanner and Louie are still there. We were headed to go save them when Avery asked to swing by here and grab you on the way. And... Here we are..." I explain. "So, Ave, did you actaully think you'd need me, or did you just miss me?" Justin asks making Avery's cheeks flush a slightly pink colour. She turns her head to look at the ground, trying to hide the blush. "Little bit of both, but mostly because I just knew we'd need you and your brain..." Avery says, taking a few steps closer to Justin. Justin puffed his bottom lip out and shook it and started to fake cry. "I thought you loved me." He says sounding like he's hurt. "Justin, I do love you! In fact half of the reason why we're here at 11:45 at night is because I missed my best friend." Avery tries. Doesn't work like that, Ave. I think to myself. Justin's cheeks turned a light shade of pink. Seriously? Man up! I say in my head. "Hey! Watch it, Malik!" Avery says pointing her finger in my face with a stern look on her face. I throw my hands up in defense and take a step back. "What did he do?" Justin asks. I don't exactly know this Justin person, so I'm gonna just hope Avery doesn't tell him, just in case. "Don't worry, Justin. If he does it again, he won't live to see the next sunrise, or sunset depending on when in the day it is..." Avery says, making me extremely scared. I'm nothing compared to Avery frickin' Vision. "Zayn! You can spit frickin' acid! If anyone is no match for someone, I'm no match for acid spitting Malik Man!" Avery says.

Wait did I say that out loud?

"Yes, yes you did." Niall says.

Note to self: Work on not saying my thoughts out loud.

"That would be a good idea, Zayn." Saskia says.

Damn it! I really need to stop doing that!

"Yeah, you really do because you just cursed in front of a nine-year-old." Electra Women says. "Oops." I say. Everyone just starts laughing, except me because I have no idea as to what they're laughing at... After they composed themselves, I decided I should remind everyone of our job. "Can we do our jobs and save everyone in that orphanage?" I say. "If you guys don't want to help me, then, fine. I'll go by myself and save my friends." I add, turning my back to them and flying away.

            Avery's P. O. V.

      Who said we weren't going to help Zayn save his friends? I think to myself. "Come on, guys, we might still be able to catch up to him." Saskia says and rises into the air getting ready to fly away and follow Zayn. "Wait! Justin can't fly." I say. "But, I can follow your sent and run through the forest." Justin suggests. "Can you keep up with us?" Dad asks. "Yeah." Justin answers. "Okay, but its not safe to be going through the forest in the middle of the night." Mom says, being the mother she is. "I could go with him, I can run just as fast as him." Niall says. "You don't need to do that, Ni. I can run just as fast - maybe even faster - if I use my super-speed." I say, trying to get Niall to leave Justin alone because of what happened the day before Niall found his inner wolf.

Note to self: NEVER piss Justin off...

Out of the corner of my eye, I can see a slight smirk appear on Justin's face.

Note to self: Keep a CLOSE eye on Justin...

"Okay, then,  let's get going. We'll get you two a little ways in the forest, then, we'll take off in the air." Mom says. "Okay." Justin and I both say causing us both to start laughing. They're actually pretty cute together. "Niall! How many times do we have to tell you! We're best friends! And only best friends!" I exlaim getting a wierd look from Saskia, mom and dad. Justin muttered something that sounded like he said 'I can change that.' "Did you say something, Justin?" I ask. "No." He says, his voice a bit higher pitched... Kinda like he's lying. It's probably nothing, Avery. I tell myself. But, what if he is lying? I ask myself. Why would he lie to his best friend? After I asked myself that, I cut off all my thoughts and just shrugged it off. Ave, just look into his mind. If you do, it will answer all your questions. Niall tells me through telepathy. No, that's wrong! Wait, since when have I ever done anything right? But, I can't do that to my best friend. I'd be a horrible best friend if i were to do that. I debate with myself, not realising Niall was still roaming around in my mind. But, it will get you answers. He continues. Niall, stop! Get out of my head! There are things I don't want you to know! I say. No. He says. Now! I say. Why should I? I'd find out your secrets. He keeps going. NOW! I yell. "Fine." Niall says out loud. I glanced at Justin and he was looking at me with confusion in his eyes and facial expression. When  he looked me in the eyes, I felt a wierd feeling growing in the pit of my stomach. His eyes were a really beautiful shade of blue. They were like oceans that you can get lost in within just a few seconds. At this moment in time, I totally forgot about the world around us, it was just me and Justin. I totally forgot that my family was with us until I heard someone clear their throat. Both mine and Justin's heads snapped in the direction of the person. Standing before me, was Liam. I sent him a weak smile and he sent me a tired one in return. What the heck is some random person doing in the forest in the middle of the night? Mom says in her head. "Mom, relax. This is Liam. He a friend of ours. We met him in the woods while he was hunting one day." Niall explains. "I'm a wolfblood." Liam tells mom. "So, what are you doing out here?" Liam asks to nobody in particular. "Justin and I are passing through and are headed to the orphanage." I say. "And while they're going on foot, we'll be flying over them, headed the same way." Saskia says. "Why the orphanage, love?" I hear Harry's raspy voice say from behind me. "Because we're going to save everyone at the orphanage." Niall says. "Wasn't talking to you." Harry says, getting a bit mad. "I know, but please, Harry, quit flirting with my sister." Niall says taking a step closer to the curly haired, cheeky boy. "Guys! Both of you, shut up! We don't have time for this!" I say, stepping between them. "She's right, we have to go, Ni." Saskia says. Niall takes a step back before turning around and flying away. "Follow our scent, Justin." Saskia says as he nods in response. Saskia, mom and dad all turn their backs towards us and follow after Niall. Speaking of which, since when is he so protective over me? He's never like that. "So, we're gonna go now. See you around." Liam says, turning away from us and beginning to walk away. "Come on, Harry." Liam says, turning to look at the freakishly tall boy. "I'm good, I think I'll walk with them since they don't know these woods." Harry says, not taking his eyes off me. "I'm pretty sure Avery knows these woods better than you, since you just started transforming like, last full moon and she's practically grown up in these woods." Liam says. "Fine." Harry says. After that, Harry walked between Justin and I, bumping into Justin's shoulder in the process. "That was rude." I say after Harry and Liam are out of sight. "We should probably get going." I say, breaking the few minutes of awkward silence. "Yeah, we probably should." Justin says before sniffing the air. "C'mon." He says. He turns and runs in that specific direction. After about two seconds of running, Justin yells back towards me, "Race ya!" He says. And with that, I take off, running at full speed to catch up with him. I realise I'm not fast enough without using my powers, so I use my super-speed. After a little bit, I finally catch up to him and stop using my super-speed. I wanted Justin to be in front of me since he's the one who is capable of following their scent. We were running (Justin ahead and me not far behind) until he stops dead in his tracks, causing me to run into him because he stopped so suddenly. I guess the impact of me hitting him was really strong because we both fell to the ground (me on top) and rolled down the hill. When we stopped rolling, Justin was on top. Every part of our bodies were touching except our heads. I felt something forming in the pit of my stomach. It was like, a million butterflies being let loose in my stomach. We were both just gazing into each other's eyes. I was beginning to get lost in them again. "Can I try something?" He asks, sounding slightly nervous. I just nod, not even daring to test my voice at this point. He comes closer and stops when we're only inches apart. At that moment, my breath hitched. "I don't want to make anything awkward between us." He says, movinf his head back slightly. "You won't." I say once I can breath again. After I said that, Justin hesitated. I closed my eyes. I'm so stupid, Justin would never like me. How could I have thought he would- My thoughts were interupted by lips smashing into mine. At first, I was shocked and opened my eyes out of instinct. Once I saw it was Justin (should have known that...), I relaxed and kissed back. After about 30 seconds, Justin pulled away. My eyes fluttered open to see him looking at me with... admiration? "I've been waiting for the right moment to ask you this question and I think this is the perfect one." He paused, "Will you be my girlfriend?" Justin asks, closing his eyes and biting his bottom lip out of nervousnesz. I was just laying there, on the ground, with Justin on top of me, while smiling like an idiot. "Yes, I'll be your girlfriend." I say. His eyes open as soon as I said that. Am I dreaming or did she actually just say that? He asks himself. You're not dreaming, I really did say yes. I tell him through telepathy. "You know, I've wanted to ask you that for a few weeks now, I just couldn't find the right moment. But, what made me want to do it tonight was definitely seeing Zayn with you guys." He says. My eyes widden. "What's wrong?" Justin asks, worry dripping from his voice. "I totally forgot about the assignment!" I say. "Crap! I forgot too..." He says, eyes wide. He gets off of me and puts his hand out for me to grab. I grab onto his hand and he pulls me to my feet. I brush my suit off and make sure there's notjing in my hair. "I got their scent." Justin says. "Okay, leggo." I say. "Race ya!" I say while pushing Justin's shoulder to distract him and taking off using my super-speed. "That's so not fair!" I hear him yell after me. I giggle and the next thing I know, Justin's in front of me. "For you!" Justin says, adding a chuckle at the end. You know, what, I'm gonna not use my super-speed. I'll win fair and square. I tell myself. "Justin! How about neither of us use our powers and just use our human speed?" I suggest. Justin stops running and walks back to me. "Okay." He says, getting into a racing position and I join him in the same position.  "Ready." I say. "Set." He says. "Go!" We yell and take off, full human speed. I'm in the lead and Justin's not far behind me. I decided that I would make a distance between us. I speed up a bit. Once I'm about 10 feet in front of Justin, I look around at the scenery. The sky has no clouds, the stars are twinkling in the moonlight. There's flowers blooming on the trees and ground. There's still some snow on the ground and tree branches. After about two minutes of observing the beautiful scenery, I came to the back of a building. I stop running and take a quick look at my surroundings. All of a sudden, I'm on the ground, laying on my stomach, with someone on top of me. I turn my head to look at the person and see that it's Justin. I laugh at the sight. He gets up and helps me up. "Sorry." He says. "It's fine. But, one thing, I win!" I say. "Where have you two been?" A voice says from behind me. My body whips around to the source of the voice. I turn to see Niall standing there with his arms crossed over his chest. "We were racing and tripped and fell and rolled down a hill." I say, which it was completely true, but I just left one part out, and if I added that part, I'd never hear the end of it. So,  I just decided to leave that part out... "Come on, let's go." Niall says. We walk around the corner and see the reat of my family. "Okay, so, listen up. We have a plan and it's already in process so we have to tell you two it fast." Mom says. "Okay, here's the plan..." Saskia says.

Sorry for the cliff hanger! And, btw, the whole scene with Avery and Justin in the forest and the hill, yeah, that scene... What happens in that scene is something that I've always thought was really romantic... I don't know why, though... Well, I hope you liked the chapter!
