Chapter Seventeen

I blink multiple times. It is him, but how? My heart starts racing faster.

Too many emotions are mixing together. Kai is back, but he killed his pregnant sister in the middle of her wedding- maybe he is as evil as everyone said he was.

Elena gasps, backing away from him. He smiles.

"I was gonna wait till the death do us part bit, but it seemed a little on the nose." Kai says, continuing to smile.

I don't even recognize this side of him. The Kai that I knew, wasn't like this.

I stand up, letting go of Katherine, but Kai doesn't look my direction as he faces the crowd.

"Am I right?" He asks us. No one responds.

Joshua stands up but right as he gets on his feet, Kai puts his hands up and starts a spell.

I fall to my knees, grabbing my head. Everyone starts screaming in pain as well as Kat and I. It feels like my head is going to explode at any second. I claw through my hair, glaring up at Kai.

He looks right into my eyes. "Miss me?" He smiles, kicking the spell up a notch.

I yell out in pain, standing up. "Kai!"

"No?" He turns back to face the entire crowd. "Oh well." His smiles turns off.

He motions his hands and glass from the windows start caving in, chandeliers fall down onto the floor in a million pieces.

The pain finally stops and I sigh in relief, soon realizing that I'm the only one without pain. I quickly shift my focus to where Kai was standing, he's gone. I spin in circles, but there's no trace of him. I look back at our chairs and Katherine is knocked out on the floor with a piece of glass wedged into her neck.

"Katherine!" I yell, I start to run towards her but I'm stopped by a hand over my mouth, forcing me backwards, away from her. Kai. He pins my against his chest, and I panic. I don't know what this man is capable of anymore.

He turns me to face him, keeping his hand over my mouth. Why? Who knows.

"You look beautiful." He smiles.

He's touching me.

I grab his wrist, removing his hand.

I'm touching him.

Everything else around us goes quiet.

I smile, a tear running down my cheek. Kai steps closer, gently wiping it with his thumb.

"It's really you." I say, putting my hand over his to keep it in place over my cheek.

Now everyone in the barn is either dead or dying. It snaps me back into reality.

I step back. "Kai, what did you do?"

"Now I won't have any competition to become the Gemini Coven's leader, Stella. All that's left to do is kill the coven. That's what I need you for."

"I'm not gonna kill your family."

"All I need is your blood."

"Kai..." I have no idea what to do. I don't know what Kai is capable of anymore.

"Stella, after this, I won't have to kill anyone else, I promise."

I stare at him. He flashes a smile, holding out his hand. I hesitate before placing my hand in his, palm up.

He grabs a piece of glass and cuts across my palm diagonally. I wince. I don't even know if I should be helping him, but it's too late now.

He brings my hand up to his mouth and starts to drink my blood. I watch him intently. He wouldn't want to turn, would he?
