Chapter Twenty-Three

"You're welcome, sweetheart."

"Klaus I thought you were staying out of this." I say.

"I am, I just came back when I realized what Damon and Stefan were actually doing to the two of you."

"Treating us like animals, yeah." Katherine says.

"So let's go." Klaus says.

"How can we trust you?" I ask.

"Well you either wait for Kai to wake up and kill Katherine, or you come with me."

I glance to Katherine and sigh.

"Let's go." She says.

Klaus smiles and opens the door.

"How many houses do you own?" I ask as we walk into one.

"I mean, I own every house if you think about it." Klaus smirks.

"I don't get it, don't you want Katherine dead?" I say, joining her on the couch.

"I do want her dead, but you have to have fun first. And I can't have Kai finishing the job for me."

I roll my eyes and Klaus laughs.

"Why are we trusting Klaus again?" Katherine asks as we walk into our room.

Is it a little weird that Klaus gave us the master bedroom? I'm not complaining.

"Because he'll protect you from Kai- no matter how crazy he is." I smile.

I kiss her and she walks backwards to the bed, kissing me back. She crawls onto the bed and I climb over her, smiling.

I go to grab her hand but gasp when I see it. "Oh my god- what is that?" Her fingers and part of her hands are covered in grey veins.

She sits up and examines herself. "I-I don't know. Is this bad?"

"Maybe it's just because of the twins. Have you felt okay?"

"I mean- a little tired, but yeah, fine."

Negative thoughts flood through my brain. This is definitely not normal.

"What if the babies are siphons, like Kai? They could be sucking all the energy out of you- they could kill you!"

"Whoa, Stella, that's a lot of 'what ifs'."

I get off of the bed and pace the room. "Why else would that happen to you."

"Let's just wait it out." Katherine says. "See what happens. You're overthinking this."

"Ugh I know, I do that too much."

She stands up and grabs my hands, placing them on her stomach.

"Me and these two are going to be fine. And we're gonna raise them together, as a family." Katherine smiles.

I smile back. "Are you sure you're ready for that? This is a lot- and really fast."

"We can do it, I know it. We're Katherine and Stella. We can do anything."

I move my hands to her hips and pull her into a kiss.

"The veins keep growing." I say, showing Klaus. Katherine is laying in the bed, her baby bump starting to show.

"Maybe we should ask Kai." He suggests.

"Are you crazy?! He'll kill her the first chance he gets!" I say.
