Taehyung P.O.V.
A week had passed by and it was already Friday again. Today I didn't have to go to Jin's Cafe as he had closed so we could go home earlier to help set up everything for our guests.
I was supposed to go to class like every Friday, but as I was pretty advanced in the subjects, all my teachers had given me permission to skip today. I had prepared a small bag with clothes and other things that I would need at home. I had cooked some side dishes last night too for dad, so I put them aside in another bag. I looked one last time over the apartment to make sure I didn't forget anything and took all my things to the car. I came back to the apartment one last time for the most important thing.
"Baby!" I called out. Yeontan appeared from the kitchen moving his tail excitedly. I took his leash from the coat rack in the hall and grabbed him softly by the collar. I put it on and took the pet carrier where he would travel in the car. We made our way to the parking lot. I opened the back door and put Yeontan carefully on the back seat. I fastened the belt so he would be secured and went to the driver's seat. I grabbed my phone and dialed Jin's number.
"Hello TaeTae!" He said.
"Hyung, I'm driving off home. When will you arrive?" I asked him.
"Uhm.. I'll be ready to go in 30 minutes I think. I'll see you there okay? Be careful and drive safely!" He said.
"Okay hyung, you too". I replied before hanging up. All this week he kept acting as if everything was okay, as if he wasn't crying himself to sleep every night. I sighed one last time before turning on the engine and going home. It usually took me a bit more than three hours to get to Daegu from Seoul, so I prepared a playlist to make time pass faster.
Jimin and the others were arriving after noon. It was 8:45 right now, so I had time to set everything up before they arrived.
It was almost 12:00 pm when I was parking my car in front of the entrance to my childhood's home. I had lived here since I was born before I went to Seoul to study two years ago. I didn't want to leave and leave my dad alone in this big house, but Jin had insisted that he would be okay. So when I applied for college, Jin had talked with his parents and decided to come with me too. He used his savings to open the Cafe, as Jimin and I entered our first year of school there. I was grateful to have had them, because I wasn't good at being around new people and having them there made everything much easier.
I turned off the engine and left the car, taking Yeontan with me. I had called dad yesterday, when he told me he wouldn't be home until tomorrow afternoon because of a business trip.
I walked to the door and used my keys to open it. The familiar place and furniture welcomed us. I left Yeontan on the floor and went to the car for the rest of the bags before entering the house and closing the door behind me. The house was silent and felt empty without anyone there. It had always felt pretty much like that since my mom left. It had been just dad and me since then, so when he was out working I was usually here alone. I made my way to the living room. Everything was neat and tidy. Our house was actually big. It was located in the outskirts of the city, so we had a lot of privacy. It could take in up to eight people easily. It had four bedrooms and the couch on the living room could be used as well to spend the night when needed. So I wasn't very worried about having a bunch of people staying here, although I had to prepare everything for them. But I was feeling weird about having new friends visiting in this date of the year.
I made my way to the second floor and went room by room putting on clean beddings. I went to the bathrooms and made sure there was everything we might need during the weekend. After getting everything ready on the second floor, I went to the kitchen downstairs to put the side dishes I had brought in the fridge. I was throwing out a couple of expired sauces that dad had when a knock on the door echoed through the empty house. I put the bottles in the bin and went to open the door, where Jin was standing with a bunch of things.
"Why didn't you use your keys?" I asked him scrunching my brows. He just smiled brightly and started to walk inside the house.
"I wanted you to open the door for me" he said jokingly. I closed the door and walked to the living room where he was now.
"Are you tired? You can go to take a nap upstairs. I'm almost done with everything" I said. His face was pale and black circles had appeared under his eyes. He smiled and shook his head.
"Don't worry Tae, I'm not tired" he said. His voice betraying him. I just hold back from speaking bluntly and turned around going back to the kitchen.
"Whatever you prefer, hyung" I mumbled.
He took his belongings to one of the rooms upstairs and entered the kitchen once he was finished.
"What else do you need help with?" He asked. I looked at the time on my phone. It was 13:12 pm. The guys were bringing the rest of the food, so there wasn't much for us to do here until they arrived.
"Do you know when they are getting here?" I asked him. Jin bounced nervously and looked at his phone.
"Yoongi said they're 20 minutes away. And Jimin texted me from a gas station before saying he still had almost 40 minutes left." I nodded and went over where Jin was on the doorway. I smirked and looked at him, wiggling my eyebrows.
"What about a table tennis game? For the old times" I suggested. He huffed and smirked smugly.
"Don't cry when you lose" he said heading out of the kitchen to the yard in front of the house. I tailed him and took the garage remote key with me. He was already standing in front of the garage's metal door, waiting for me to open it. I complied and he stepped inside. He went to the cabinet where the game was and took everything out. I went over and helped him. It was chilly outside but the sun was shining in the sky, so we decided to play in the yard next to where our cars were parked.
"To the best out of 11" he said, smirking playfully. I gave him the same look and nodded.
"Olders always first" I said, passing him the ball. He took it and bounced it a couple of times with his racket. He got ready to start and I corrected my posture to a better position. He was about to start when he spoke.
"Yeontan! Come over here!" He said, looking behind me. I turned to look over, but Yeontan was nowhere to be seen. The sound of the ball being hit made me turn again to the game. Jin was smiling from ear to ear as he had made one point fooling me.
"Hyung!" I screamed out. "When are you gonna grow up?! For god sake!" I said with indignation. He just laughed off and I did the same. We played vigorously until we were in the match point. I was losing by one. If he won one more point he would win the whole set. I was about to hit the ball when a car appeared in the road, slowing down and parking in the entrance next to the other two cars. It was a black big SUV, Hoesok in the driver's seat and Yoongi next to him. The engine just turned off as the back door opened to reveal an excited Jungkook. A smile automatically drew in my face at the sight of the younger. At that moment I realized that I had missed him. We had spoken over the phone and texted during the week, but it was nothing compared to seeing him in person. He closed the door and ran towards me. The game behind me was already forgotten. I opened my arms and tried to maintain my balance when the raven boy threw himself into my embrace.
"Hyung!" He said. His head on my neck and my chin on the top of his head. He smelled like the breeze in summer, warm and welcoming. I closed my eyes and inhaled his scent. My arms around the younger's back and his around my waist.
"I missed you" he whispered against the crock of my neck. I couldn't help but smile at his words. My heart was racing in his presence and the contact.
"I missed you too, Kook-ah" I said, stepping away from him. He whined at the loss of contact and I ruffled his hair in response.
I saw Yoongi and the others walking toward us. Hoseok was saying something in Yoongi's ear and Namjoon with his hands on his pockets. I turned to look at Jin to check if he was doing well. I was pretty sure Namjoon and he hadn't talked about their things after that day. And when I turned and found out that Jin had entered the house as soon as they arrived, I confirmed my suspicions. I exhaled and turned to hug and greet the rest of my friends.
A/N:
Sorry for the boring chapter, but I needed it as an intro to the trip. I'll upload the next chapter now to compensate.
