Brian just watched with his even gaze, expression unchanging.
"How?"

"Magic."

Tim rolled his eyes.
"Okay, he's nuts. Let's just kill him."
Tim was getting tired of this.

Mari shook his head.
"No, listen. I've done research on this. Its hard with the demon floating around, but I've found evidence of people breaking free of this kind of thing. I met a guy once, called himself Habit I think. He said he had been dealing with this thing, that I now realize is your thing, for a few centuries now."

Toby raised an eyebrow.
"Th-there are more like us?"

Mari nodded.
"Yeah, or, there were. This Habit guy said that this thing just kept reincarnating him and his buddies when it killed them, an endless cycle."

"Great," Tim interjected, "is that gonna happen to us?"

"Not if you let me finish. The last time they were brought back, they managed to kill it, if impermanently. The others, they all died, but as far as Habit knew, they haven't come back, and that thing has left him alone ever since."

Tim threw his hands up in exasperation.
"Great, so we just have to kill the unkillable, and then we can all go back to a normal life."

Mari leaned back on the couch.
"Basically, Habit didn't tell me how he did it unfortunately, thats on us to figure it out."

Brian shook his head, leaning forward in his chair.
"Okay, but how does any of this help you?"

Mari smiled, his eyes glinting mischievously.
"Basically, your boss now has something my boss wants, me, and my boss will do anything to get me back. I'm hoping this will end with your boss killing her."

"Dont call it our boss like we do this willingly. Also that's a stupid plan."

"Do you have a better one?"
