One month later.

Dream carried a watchblob on his shoulder. He had fondly named it Tiko.

He was in his human form, still wearing the mask obviously. That would definitely be interesting if he took it off, but he wasn't in the mood to.
It didn't stand out. On this street alone, several other mortals they passed were wearing homemade masks to worship him.
It pleased Dream, and he blessed them each with good luck.

He caught George glancing at Tiko and smirked. George's gaze wandered off, but after centuries spent with him, Dream understood George's odd little mannerisms.
He was jealous of Dream's little pet. He probably would have called up one of his favorite birds, but those were a distraction to mortals in a way that blobs weren't.

Dream summoned one from a nearby roof and it fell into his palm.
He tossed it to George, who caught it smoothly and smiled.

George's little blob was short; it snuggled into his hands adorably.
Dream was familiar with all of George's smiles, but this was one of his favorites. The one that only came out when George admired small things, like baby animals. The smile was small too, but it was joyful like sunlit meadows.

"Clay, do I get one?" Sapnap had caught up to them again. He spoke in an annoyed voice.
Clay.
They used different names to go unnoticed in the mortal realm.
Clay was natural, but dull. Fitting for an alias, but he wouldn't wear it all the time.

"Two tamed blobs is unusual, but three is unheard of. Here," Dream sighed and handed Tiko to Sapnap.

"Thank you." Sapnap smiled and then threw Tiko over the rooftops. He didn't even use half his strength, but it still landed a dozen houses away.

Dream frowned and George rolled his eyes.
"Nick cannot even chill when in stealth mode, apparently."

Sapnap was bouncing on the balls of his human feet. "Why would I chill when there are fights about to break out all over this place? Look, I feel a knot of tension there, and there, and there!" He twisted like a starving dog at a banquet. "Everyone here is on the verge of panic, all it needs is a push and-"
Dream lifted a hat as they passed a stand and donned Sapnap's head.

He glanced back and gave the seller the idea to check for thieves.
"WAIT!" The man cried out, "Thief!"

Sapnap turned, eyes glowing with excitement. He was surprised to see the man chasing him.
Dream pushed the hat down over his eyes. "Oh Nick, this color really does not suit you," he teased.

Sapnap scoffed, then blinked and ducked. He barked a short laugh and took off, snaking around mortals and diving under tables and carts.

"Now you have done it," George said mildly, "the chaos is fueling him more."

"Relax, he needed some fun." Dream admired the sun on George's curly brown locks. He discreetly stole a roll and offered it to him.
"We do not take him on enough walks, anyway."

George's eyes rolled back to the booth and forwards again. Dream paid the baker with three better ideas to run his business that appeared suddenly in his head.
Noise gradually rose in the wake of Sapnap's chaotic escape. Men shouted, babies cried, dogs barked.
George seemed distressed.

"No one is minding us now," Dream told him as a stall overturned and spilled fruit onto the stones.

The two disguised gods ambled aimlessly. Dream smiled as George tasted the roll. Bread was his favorite.
"Do you think he was right?" George asked in his tone that seemed emotionless but hid concern. "Are the mortals really so anxious these days?"
