"Tom it's beautiful out here," I said looking at the tall trees that surrounded us.
"I thought you'd like it. We've been so busy this past few weeks that I wanted something were we could be just us" He said reaching for my hand and helping me down from a rock. Still, my foot slipped and Tom held me tight between his arms. "Oh, careful darling" I smiled and kissed him.
"Thank you. You know I love hiking but I'm not really made for it" He chuckled slightly not letting go of my hand
"It shouldn't be long now, our cabin should be just a few minutes away now" I nodded and kept walking behind Tom so he could guide me on where to go. I was starting to get cold and my hands started to get a little numb so I held to Tom's arm harder.
If I concentrated I could hear the water in a lake nearby and the birds preparing to go to sleep. I really loved those woods.
"Here we are darling," Tom said as we stood before a white small cabin. Our home for the weekend.
The outside was a little rusty, plants growing all over and the paint fading in some places due to the humidity, but on the inside everything was as if they'd prepare it just for us, which they probably did.
There was a chimney in the living room which had what seemed to be very comfortable couches with too many blankets. All the furniture was made of dark wood and delicately decorated with hints of white. It has only one floor so the bedroom was just at the end of the hall. I made a mental note to check it out later.
"Well?" Tom asked opening his arms proudly.
"Oh, Tom! How did you find a place like this?" I asked turning to face him. He laughed softly due to my excitement.
"Well, I just wanted something beautiful but private for us" I smiled and reached for his face pulling him closer to me.
"It's perfect" He chuckled and kissed me.
"Now, let's get changed into something more comfortable. I have one last surprise" He said guiding me to the bedroom. We both changed into our pajamas since it was late already and we both were tired.
Maybe Tom's surprise was dinner, I was so hungry. I smiled when I smelled a strong smell of coffee coming from the kitchen.
"Here you go darling," Tom said handing me a cup of fresh-made coffee. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the smell. Tom wrapped an arm around my waist and walked us to a sofa that was showered in golden light. The sun was going down making everything seem like a dream.
I sat between his legs with my back resting on his chest. I finished my coffee and began to fall asleep. Suddenly Tom's arms tightened around me. He leaned over my ear and whispered.
"Marry me" My eyes opened instantly and I turned to face Tom. 'Had I heard right?' Did he really say he wanted to marry me?'
His eyes showed me a bright twinkle and a flirty smile that made me shiver with excitement. And I felt in my chest all the emotions I knew, I felt frightened and excited, I felt sad and happy, I really felt everything in just one second.
"Marry me" He repeated holding my head with his hands and pulling me in for a kiss. Tears started to run down my face as I nodded my head.
"Yes," I whispered back jumping on him with a rain of kisses.
