It was a few days later when Pansy and Ginny ambushed Hermione and Daphne who were both studying in the library. They pretty much forced the two studious girls to leave their bags in their common room and join them on a fashion emergency as Pansy called it.
Daphne and Hermione didn't have a say in the matter; Pansy and Ginny forced them to change into some casual clothes before dragging them to the streets of London, hoping to find some dresses for the masquerade ball. The guys stayed back at Hogwarts; all of them training for their upcoming Quidditch match against each other.
Right now, Hermione was walking beside the three other girls, a frustrated look on her face. When Pansy noticed her expression, she commented on it.
"Can you explain why you look like you drowned in the black lake and then were forced to walk around with water dripping down your sides?"
Hermione rolled her eyes before responding. "The NEWTs are merely in a few more weeks! We should be studying instead of going around looking for dresses!"
Ginny gave a soft laugh before speaking. "Hermione, you have been studying nonstop this week; a few hours won't cause you any trouble. Plus, you have to look gorgeous for the masquerade ball. We already know Draco is going to swoon over you even if you were wearing Ron's dressing robes from the Yule Ball, but it still doesn't hurt to send him into temporary paralysis."
Hermione blushed, and with that came the laughs of her friends. It was weird to her; the fact that her friends actually knew about her relationship with Draco. She had planned to keep it a secret for as long as Draco and her could, but they never thought that their friends would be able to discover their secret relationship so fast.
"I am sure this will be worth it, Hermione." Daphne said, giving Hermione a smile akin to that of Luna's. Hermione loved Daphne; her spirit and her smile and her presence brought comfort to Hermione's existence. Daphne was a jewel, and Hermione never wanted her shine to go away.
"It better be." Hermione murmured.
"Well, on a brighter note, can I just pleasure you guys with some details of Potter's preferences in se—"
"Don't you dare!" Hermione and Ginny both exclaimed at the same time, their eyes wide and their minds scrambling to find stable ground.
Pansy pouted. "But why?"
"That's my best friend you are talking about! I would rather go blind than hear what you want to say." Hermione said in a final tone, crossing her arms over her chest.
"And he is also my ex-boyfriend, I don't want to hear about his sex life. Thank you very much." Ginny added.
Pansy continued pouting meanwhile a smirk spread on Ginny's face.
"You guys would never believe what Blaise did last night, he was wild—"
"Shut up!" Pansy exclaimed, and Hermione saw the disgusted looks that accompanied both Daphne and Pansy's faces.
"What now?" Ginny asked, but Hermione sensed the mischievousness that was in her tone.
"That's our best friend!" Daphne exclaimed, and Pansy followed up with, "We don't need to hear anything you want to say about Blaise, what happens in the bedroom stays in the fucking bedroom."
