12. Person A agonizes over picking a present for Person B and does everything they can to hide the fact they're struggling. Person B knows what Person A is doing, but goes along with it so they don't feel horrible. (Or Person B is completely oblivious, you pick.)

As Yuki watched his boyfriend start to put up Christmas decorations for the start of December, he felt himself begin to despair. Despite the wizard's emotions reading like a completely open book, Yuki still didn't know what to get him for Christmas.

They had been together for a year now, and they had changed each other's lives considerably. Yuki was extremely grateful that he could meet Mikado, even if he had to be the reasonable one in their relationship, but for all the time they had spent together, he just didn't have a clue what to get him.

"My dear, I'm going to go grocery shopping. I'll be back soon!" Mikado called from the front door.

"Alright, stay warm!" Yuki replied, and he heard the door close behind the blonde. As he thought about his problem more, he had an idea and quickly pulled out his phone. If there was anyone that had been around Mikado long enough to know what he liked, it had to be the ones Mikado worked with.

"Oh, hey." Hajime answered when Yuki dialled his number. "Whatcha need, Yuki?"

"Um, I have a question. Do you or the other Voids know what Mikado is interested in? I'm trying to get him a Christmas gift and he's out of the house right now." The lucky student explained.

"Well, I know for a fact that he's been searching for a boy named 'Utsuro' his whole life, more so than the rest of us. Utsuro kinda looks a little bit like you, actually!" The boxer remarked. "Otherwise, he likes hacking and cooking."

"And from my time with him, he also likes museums, art galleries, books, piano music, just the arts in general..." Yuki trailed off as he finally decided what he wanted to get his boyfriend. "Hey, if Iroha's in the dorm, could you put her on the phone? Please tell her that I want to commission her."

On Christmas Eve, Yuki and Mikado were sitting together on their dorm's couch. Yuki was watching an old movie while Mikado typed on his laptop, continuing to hack. The smaller boy looked over at his boyfriend, wishing that he would stop his work and relax for a while.

"Mikado, why don't you take a break? You've been working a lot harder lately, not to mention that your portion of tonight's supper was kinda big." Yuki remarked. "I'm actually kinda surprised that you aren't drowsy yet."

"Well, I am rather tired, but I need to keep searching. I really don't know how to stop myself at this point, I only get this invested in my work during the day usually." The wizard sighed.

"Here, I'll mix some melatonin in some hot chocolate for you. That way, you'll be asleep instead of all twitchy." The lucky student stood up from the couch and gave the top of Mikado's head a kiss before going to the kitchen and opening the medicine cabinet. He made some hot chocolate and mixed the sleeping powder with it, then brought it back to his boyfriend.

Mikado saved his work, closed his laptop, and chugged the drink, then put it on the coffee table next to his laptop. "You really do come up with good ideas, dear. I'll get a blanket since there's no way you're going to be able to move me from the couch to the bed when I'm asleep." The wizard smiled, standing up.

"Wait, you aren't going to just go to bed?" Yuki questioned.

"I'd rather be beside you when I go to sleep." Mikado replied, returning with a large blanket and sitting down, throwing it over them both. "Come now, let's watch this movie together."

Yuki had no idea how one could fall asleep while watching an action movie, but melatonin apparently did the trick. Within half an hour, Mikado was sound asleep against his smaller boyfriend, who refused to move and risk waking his tired wizard up. In the end, they both fell asleep on the couch.

On Christmas morning, they woke up and opened the gifts they got from each other. Mikado went all out and bought a bunch of things that he thought Yuki would be interested in, including video games, snacks, and some money. Yuki hugged his boyfriend and thanked him with a kiss before encouraging him to open his present next.

Mikado went silent as he looked at his opened present a realistic portrait of Utsuro that Yuki had commissioned from Iroha. As Yuki worried that Mikado didn't like it, the blonde practically tackled him into a tight hug, nearly crying from happiness. All in all, Yuki thought that maybe that gift was the best one he could have given.
