Prologue

Everyone was born into this world with a red string that connects them with the person they are meant to be with. It says that the red string connects two people destined to be together regardless of place, time, or circumstances. This magical invisible red thread may be stretched or tangled, but can never ever be broken.

Some believe that there is a deity that oversees our fate to ensure that everything that was predetermined since our birth and the strings that connected us will follow the natural order. We are born to find our other half who is at the other end of the string.

According to Asian legends, there was once a boy who met a deity who told him who he was going to marry in the future. The deity told him that he can see the Red String of Fate of everyone, including his. Although, he doesn't seem to believe in the deity, the deity showed the boy his destiny. He pointed at the girl who just passed by them and told him that the girl is his red string of fate. He was shown of the red string tied to both of them. Being too young and uninterested of marrying, he mischievously picked up a rock and threw it at the girl who was badly hurt and ran away crying.

Many years later, the boy grew up into a fine young man. His parents already made an agreement and arranged a marriage for him. He was forced to abide with the agreement to save the family of the young girl he will be marrying. On the night of their wedding, his wife awaits for him in their bedroom with the traditional veil still covering her face. Despite the hesitation he felt in his marriage, there is a feeling he cannot explain as he lifted her veil. To his surprise, his wife turns out to be one of the most beautiful lady he has ever laid his eyes on. However, he can't stop himself from noticing that she wears an adornment on her eyebrow. He asked her why she wears it and she told him of her childhood that a boy once threw a rock at her and left a scar on her eyebrow. She has been self-consciously wearing the adornment to cover it up. Her story struck the young man as he recalled and realizes that his wife was the young girl he threw a rock at when the deity showed him his red string of fate.

The Red String of Fate explains why for some reasons we feel this strong connection towards someone and why we are bound to meet them again and again unexpectedly like it was already written in the stars. We may have feelings we cannot explain when we are with them and at the same time long for them when apart. We might have to spend the rest of our lives feeling empty or something that is lacking as we continuously searched for the missing piece of us.

They say that deity still lives up to this day and he has been living among us. He is the only one who knows and sees the red string tied to us and who could be at the other end. Sometimes he grants wishes. If I were to meet him someday, will he help me find my destiny?
