The effects of deities upon the passage of time are infinite. Often times, historians and philosophers would spend their entire lives studying the many appearances of gods and deities in time and comparing them, but would never find any concrete answer to why the deities showed up when they did or what they even wanted.
Karl Jacobs was one such individual. He was different, though. A member of the Inter-dimensional Traveler's Association (ITA), he was in charge of regulating the appearances and actions of deities (and other godly beings) in one of the many DreamSMP universes. The timeline he looked after was always quiet, so he found pleasure in interacting with it on a personal and regular basis. What harm would it do if nothing ever happened? He had already handled the three existing gods in the server already, there was nothing more to do. Of course, that would all change imminently.
Karl Jacobs was minding his own business in his library, sorting through books from throughout the timeline, when suddenly he felt a wave of nausea overcome him. Such sickness was not from food poisoning, nor from a stomach flu. This was something else, a feeling he had only heard about from higher ups. Immediately, Karl hopped into the tunnel of time and sorted through the many events of the timeline of this DreamSMP, rushing to find where such a wave of power had come from.
Then he found it. On January 18th, 2021, the Syndicate, led by Technoblade and Philza Minecraft, was formed. They created their base of operations in a stronghold just beneath their home in the tundra, and their meeting room in the End Portal room. That was what caught Karl's attention, because a deity appeared in the exact same area, destroying the frames of the portal before disappearing. Not a god, a deity. He watched as Technoblade and Philza bargained with the deity to allow them to use the frames as part of their table, to which the deity obliged.
That was the very first time that DreamXD, the deity and protecter of the DreamSMP, was sighted in this universe.
It was quiet for another month as Karl began logging information on this seemingly new deity. He spoke with both Technoblade and Philza about their encounter and deduced that the deity was connected to Dream. The inactivity of the deity was what surprised him the most, seeing as deities were known to cause disruption within the universe they ruled when they first appeared. This one, however, did not. It was silent, watching from afar. Karl found that interesting, yet terrifying.
On February 26th, DreamXD reappeared. This time, he appeared to Quackity, GeorgeNotFound, and BadBoyHalo as they were building a McDonalds. Karl wasn't there, of course, but he heard from his fiancé that the deity had taken a liking to George. It also took in interest in Master Oogway, for some reason or another.
And things were quiet for another month.
On March 31st, Karl felt the wave of nausea hit again, though slightly less, meaning he had time before the deity appeared in the timeline. As he wandered around the SMP, looking for where the deity was, he found George sleeping underneath a tree. George, who the deity had taken a liking to. George, Dream's lover of sorts. Karl knew that DreamXD was connected to Dream, so of course it made sense that George was in its favor. However, speaking with Dream was off-limits for the time being, as Karl needed to document all appearances of the deity before traveling through the timeline again.
Looking back at George, Karl realized exactly what he had to do in order to learn more about the deity.
"Remember," his supervisor had said to him. "In every DreamSMP universe, there is a Dream and there is a George. You cannot have one without the other. If something is happening with one, the other will be affected."
Of course! George was dreaming and his dream was under the influence of DreamXD. Karl would observe from a distance so that when the man woke and the deity appeared, Karl would learn everything.
