Zain and Lucas remained frozen in the dark. They didn't even feel like getting up to find firewood. They felt too traumatised to even speak; Zain wanted to speak but he kept stuttering.
"This can't be true, this can't be true," Lucas whispered to himself repetitively.
"Um," Zain has managed to look at Lucas, "Don't... you... think... we should go?"
Lucas nodded yes.
Zain crawled towards Lucas and wrapped his arms around him.
"NO NO NO NO NO!!!" Lucas screamed and paced towards a tree, "DON'T TOUCH ME!!! Don't... touch me!" Lucas began to cry. He squeezed himself into a ball and kept whispering to himself, "This can't be true."
"I'm... I'm... I'm sorry," Zain said, "Can we go?"
Lucas's breath was pacing loudly.
"It's okay Lucas. It's okay."
Lucas's breath slowly toned down. He took lots of deep breaths and slowly got up like he's not used to walking.
"Come on, let's go."
