So peeps: What POV/POVs were your least favorite?
Mine was Piper.
No, she isn't usless. But just because she isn't usless doesn't mean she's entertaining.
Leo had so much trauma to his past. Frank was dealt a bs hand. Reyna has so much backstory. Jason was raised by Juno (Am I correct?) and was basically like Mowgli for a while, and became a hardened leader at so young. Hazel is also a Hades kid, technically the oldest since she was born in the 1920s, and her backstory is like something of a fairytale you hope has a happy ending.
But Piper is just...a girl who's father is famous and she happens to be descended from Native Americans. Now, I'm not a Native America, or descended from. But others who are have saud even that was done somewhat wrong. And she was...well, boring, too. That's how she was to me. And sort of like a "I'm not like other girls" trope. Like, she's still likeable in othwr ways, but her POV didn't pull me in. I found myself bored woth them.
And...
Okay, in all honesty, Nico and Reyna should've been a part of the of the 7 Prophecy instead of Percy and Annabeth. We love Persassy, but I think he and Annabeth should've been given a break. So Percebeth come in 2nd under Piper. Nico and Reyna should've been given more attention. I'm happy he's getting more attention in the new Solangelo book coming, but him getting more POV time in HoO would've really given more pages to share his past, his thoughts, his feelings, all leading up to things like finding his half sister, moments before his forced coming out, his thoughts afterward, more between him and Jason.
Nico, Leo, and Reyna had to be my favourite POVs to read. Ya, Leo has sort of a problem around girls. But he's just a kid who needs a person to look up to and teach him how to be respectful (which he thankfully gets near the end of ToA), and going from foster home to foster home, the only woman he ever really loved being his mother who's death he was blamed for, didn't exactly help him. His issues and trauma should've been dealt with a little better.
Another reason I like Hellbent, a fanfic on here. Nico and Reyna take Percebeth's place, Nico and Leo fall into Tartarus, and they both have to confront their past trauma, help each other even if they start off as nearly distant strangers, and by the end they're still not completely over their trauma but now know how to better cope a bit, they're closer and don't know how they are together yet, and the rest of the story is honestly up to the readers minds. I suggest you go read it. It's on here, and you can't tell it's romantic Valdangelo other than a kiss near the end. But even then, they still have yet to discuss if it was an in-the-moment thing or if they want to be together, but they want to better work on themsleves first, both have grown, but they're also closer as friends now. As much as I love Rick's work, Hellbent did the "dealing with trauma" and "coming out" stuff better. Like Nico saying he had use to like Percy, and Leo says "Ah sh!t, me too...I mean-" And they have a proper conversation about that, too. And it is comedic at times, too. And we get to see Nico and Bob interact with each other.
Anyways, I'm getting out of touch woth the topic at hand. XD What was your favorite HoO POVs, and your least favorite POVs?
