Part 9

Lynn ran as fast as she could but was already very tired after the fight and found herself close to her end. As she ran, she saw a motorcycle parked and knew what to do. She got the engine running without a key by putting two wires against each other in no time, and drove as fast as she could in a northwesterly direction away from New York and civilization. Her chest started to hurt more and more and could barely keep up with the speed of the bike. She gritted her teeth and hoped she would get far enough away from civilization.

After more than an hour of driving she came to an old quarry and parked the bike just outside the fence, Lynn who was sweating a lot and was short of breath used her light power to create a sword and create an opening in the fence, this went not without some pain the moment she used her strength a big shock shot through her body and she dropped to her knees, tears welled in her eyes it felt like a rock was pressing on her chest. She got up, legs trembling, and made her way to the center of the quarry, each step taking a lot of energy and pain, but she knew she had to keep going.

Avengers POV

After Lynn left, the Avengers tried to free themselves from the ice. The ice almost looked like diamond because it was so strong and thick. "Shit I thought we had her now" was Tony's response after he looked around and saw how everyone was there. "Tony, less talking, more getting out of the ice," Steve responded irritated.

"Mr. Stark, I think we have a problem," Jarvis began. "Yes Jarvis, I know we're stuck and I can't get us out of this ice easily."

"No, sir, that's not what I mean. During the Avengers battle with Shadow, I maintained a high energy level that kept increasing. This energy level is comparable to reaching a nuclear bomb. The energy came from the person Shadow" indicated the AI. "Oh shit, Jarvis find out where she is now. Locate that energy level and bring the anti-nuclear suit over here," Tony said concerned. He had an idea why she said 'especially not now'

Clint who heard Tony talking looked at him with a concerned look "Tony, what's going on?" where everyone looked at the two. Tony opened the peak of his helmet. "Our Shadow is a ticking time bomb" Just then a lightning strike came "Jaha" Thor shouted "Nobody can stop me, well not for too long then"

"Get us out of here now!!" shouted Steve, worryingly. Thor didn't hesitate for a moment and grabbed Mjölnir and with a few good blows he got the rest free. The jet came flying in with a box underneath and Tony knew what it was. "Okay, this is the anti-nuclear bomb box under the jet" Tony said as they entered the jet. "If we get Shadow in the box before she can release all the energy we'll have no bomb," Tony explained. Some looked at him. "What, it's a prototype. It should work." Steve shook his head, then looked back at Tony. "Tony, where is she now can Jarvis locate her by the energy level value?"'

"You hurt my feelings capsicle. Of course Jarvis can, he was invented by me". Everyone looked at him with a look that said 'seriously now'. The track heads north-west and it's moving fast, she's almost out of town. "Isn't that a good sign? Maybe she knows she's going to kind of explode and is going out of town because of it," Wanda expressed her opinion. "Well that would explain Lady shadow's statement," said Thor. "What do you mean?" asked Bucky. "Lady Shadow spoke 'I'm surviving' and then 'And now you from me'" said Thor.

"I think she knew something was going to happen and therefore wanted to leave, to protect everyone. And we stood in her way, She wanted to protect us but we only made it difficult for her" said Bucky, who was ashamed. "We didn't know this was going to happen, she didn't tell us anything Buck" Steve tried. "We didn't really give her a chance, even though she said a few times 'let me go now and I promise I'll come by the Avengers tower voluntarily tomorrow'" Sam indicated. Everyone knew he was right.

Nat and Clint were in the cockpit While Tony watched the Shadow/Lynn location screen. "She's going to Riverdale".

"How long before we get there?" asked Steve. "little 10 minutes" Nat indicated. "Okay everybody get ready. We don't know what we'll find, we need to get Lynn in the box..." Steve started but was interrupted by a good shake from the jet and alarm bells going off. "Hold on!" Nat yelled before Nat and Clint tried to get the now-falling Jet going again. Fortunately, that happened in time and everything started working again. Now that they were flying again, Clint and Nat looked out the window and saw that all the lights in the area were off "uh, guys" began Clint who turned on the camera view from in front of the jet with the men in the hold. "What happened?" James asked as he saw only dark outside and no lights.

The lights in the town and villages turned on again after three minutes. The energy signal they where tracking Shadow with was just gone. "It turns out that the energy level we followed Miss Shadow with is no longer there, Mr. Stark," Jarvis spoke through the speakers of the Jet. "What does that mean?" Thor wondered aloud. "That means Point Break, That our Shadow has released her energy" he explained and then spoke to Jarvis "What is the last location measured?" Jarvis indicated that the Riverdale Quarry was the last signal of Lynn. 

The group of heroes quickly flew that way. Not much later they flew over the quarry and turned on the lights, their mouths dropped to what they saw on the ground. A huge hole in the middle of the quarry "wow, that was one hell of a bang" Sam responded. "Uh guys" started Clint who was now on the edge of his seat. "Look at that hole in the ground. I think we found our Shadow" he said the last in a soft voice. They parked the Jet and ran outside after Jarvis indicated that there were no dangerous radiation or energy waves. Bucky, Steve and Tony were the first to reach Lynn and were startled by the sight in front of them. There half on her stomach was Lynn with a lot of dirt on her and torn clothes. She looked battered. Bucky knelt down next to her and looked for a heartbeat. 

"Please let there be a heartbeat" Bucky pleaded while he knelt as the rest of the Avengers gathered around. Bucky struggled to find a heartbeat and just as he was about to give up, he noticed a light heartbeat. "She's still alive!" Bucky called, trying to pick her up. "No leave her on the floor" Tony and Steve shouted, whereupon Bucky looked at them questioningly. "We don't know if she broke anything, and if we move her we can make it worse," Steve explained. Tony, meanwhile, had his suit scanned by the young lady for injuries. "Except for 1 broken rib and a lot of bruises she is good to be picked up" Tony started but soon started to get anxious after hearing from Jarvis "okay hurry we have to get her to Bruce and fast!" Jarvis says her condition is deteriorating quickly" Tony shouted who quickly grabbed Lynn from Bucky's hands and flew quickly to the jet holding Lynn tightly to him. Once in the jet he laid her down on the medical table and straped her in, so she couldn't fall of the table. The rest of the group came running in the jet and soon they where flying to the avengers tower.

Underway Clint called Bruce to tell him the situation and get ready for the young girl.

The whole group was sad to see such a young girl all battered up and knew some of that was there fault.
