UHG. I don't want to get up! Well better get up anyway, I got school today. At least it's Friday. I get up and head to the closet. What to wear today. It's Friday, so it's gotta be something special. How 'bout... My pink flannel shirt with my butterfly tights. It's perfect! Simple yet elegant. I throw the outfit on and head downstairs.

"Morning mom. How are you today?" I hug her.

"I'm good, sweetie please get ready quickly. I have to get to work." She pauses. "Skip brushing your teeth. They also serve breakfast during first period correct?"

"Yep!" I put on my shoes. "Ok, we can go."

My mom drives me to  school and I walk into the couch room and find Julie there in a beautiful red dress, crying.

"Oh no! Julie, what happened?!" I run to her and hug her. "What happened are you okay?"

"Yeah." She sniffles before wiping her eyes and burying her face in my chest. "My grandma died yesterday, and I wasn't home when she did. I regret not telling her that I loved her more and that I didn't spend much time with her."

"Oh, Julie." I hug her tighter. " How 'bout you stay over at my house this weekend all day, both days and we can have a sleepover tomorrow night."

"Okay!" She pauses, wiping her tears. "Do you think we can go to the office to tell them we are a couple on Monday?"

Why is she so insistent on going?

"Ok." I say, deciding against my better judgement. "We can go."

Before she can respond, the bell rings signifying first class, which on Fridays are 20 minutes each, instead of the usual hour.

We go to first period, but don't get to talk much. In second period we watch a movie. But third period, Tom walks in in the middle of class and whispers something to the teacher.

"Marie Leggingbottom and Julie Yellowmelon please get your stuff and follow Tom to the principal's office."

We both look at each other and gather up our stuff. We then follow Tom out.

"So why do we have to go to the principal's office and why did they send you?" I ask, worried. Julie grabs my hang and threads her fingers through mine, her nervous twitch.

"The principal doesn't need you, it was just my excuse to get y'all out." He pauses. "What do y'all want to do?"

I stop in surprise. "I want to go back to class!" I slap him across the face. "How did you even get out?!?" I turn and start walking back to class, angry.

"Wait Marie!" Julie runs and catches up to me. "You can't go back to class. The teacher will get suspicious."

"No, we can just go back and say that Tom just wanted to hang out, that the principal didn't really need us." I turn away from her and walk two steps, right into a scrawny, tall boy. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there."

"Don't apologize for something you can't fix." The boy pauses. "If my name isn't Orlando, you won't want to see me again." The boy quickly walks away from us.

"I don't know what that was, but come on, let's go back to class." We go back in and tell the teacher that he just wanted to skip school. The rest of the day goes on normally, but I don't see Tom in Study hall.

Me and Julie leave the school together and start heading to my car, when we see Tom walking up.

"So, I may have been suspended for a day, which was today, and I have to come to school during this weekend." He looks at us nervously. "Sorry for trying to make you skip school."

I glare at him. "Just behave and you will be good." Me and Julie get in my car and head to my house. After we get there, we get out and head inside.

"I am so excited to have a sleepover at my house with you!" I squeal. "I will go and buy some ice cream for us after you go home tonight. What's your favorite flavor?"

"Mine is strawberry." She pauses. "What's yours?"

"Hmm... That's a tough question." I think for a moment. "I guess it would have to be between cookies and cream and strawberry."

"I used to like cookies and cream, but the Oreos just get too mushy." She shudders.

"What?! But the mushy Oreos are the best part!" I shake my head. "You know what? I'll get both."

We run to my room and lay on my bed talking. After two hours of talking Julie gets up.

"Alright. I think it's about time for me to head home. I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Yep! I'll meet you out front at six." I pause. "Bring some comfortable clothes and a sleep outfit. I'll make us some of my aunt's night-night tea before we go to bed tomorrow."

"Okay! See you tomorrow!" She walks out I open the front door for her. "Don't forget the ice cream!"

"I won't!" I shut the door and grab my purse, which has my money. I go to the garage, open it, and bike to the nearby HED. I walk through the aisles a bit, before finding the ice cream. I open the freezer and search through the tubs, unable to find strawberry. I pull out my phone and text Julie.

So, I can't find strawberry. What flavor do you want, instead?

IDK, How about... OO! Rocky road.

Ok, lemme look.

I search around before finally finding rocky road.

Mk, found it. Do you want any other flavors?

Nah, I'm good 😉

Chocolate, gotcha.

How... How did you know?

Well, #1 the winky face #2 you always get chocolate at school

Well done. Now I gtg take a shower, ttyl?

Yep!

I take all three flavors of ice cream and buy them. I bike home and unload them into the big freezer in the garage. I then go inside and eat dinner, brushing my teeth right after. Once I get into bed, instead of going to bed, I read Harry Potter for 30 minutes, until finally drifting off to blissful sleep.
